Check out this little clip Heath of a very young Jason singing. Whaaaaa?

I'd like to see Lee in a Kevin Smith movie again too, as long as something different. I think he and Smith had some sort of a falling out, or at least grew apart for a while there. I remember hearing something with the director SEVERAL years ago and he said that he hadn't talked to Lee in a long time and, if I remember correctly, he seemed to indicate it MAY have had something to do with some religious differences. I don't think he went into detail and that's all I remember. They're clearly back on good terms now, though (so why did I even bring it up) and what could stop them other than filming on Alvin and the Chipmunks Four: Theodore Evens the Score?Heath Hollandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03802874033845631338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217427319662074458.post-13568822805255038132014-11-05T15:44:54.358-06:002014-11-05T15:44:54.358-06:00It's entirely possible that I didn't care ...It's entirely possible that I didn't care for Mumford because of some of my own baggage that I brought into it. I'm hoping to see it with new eyes when I watch it again. I'd love to love it. I feel like at some point we nee to re-evalute Lawrence Kasdan's career as a director. I think he's had only one movie that we can outright call bad (Dreamcatcher, which is indeed awful and possibly the worst Stephen King movie based on one of his worst books), some very good movies like Silverado and Body Heat and then some very pleasant movies like Darling Companion. (I'd have to go back and see Grand Canyon to remember if it's actually good of or it's an early Crash and just well-meant kind-of-OK palp.)Joseph Finnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17168159790992899470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217427319662074458.post-89319875334556007362014-11-05T08:16:45.673-06:002014-11-05T08:16:45.673-06:00This is uncanny. I was on a full Jason Lee kick just yesterday, reading up about him and watching youtube clips and interviews etc. Hes been a favourite of mine ever since Mallrats too.

Ive long held an opinion about the 90s writer/directors with stylised dialogue and the performer who is their best fit, not just in terms of making it sound naturalistic but who also infuses it with the intended...poetry (? for want of a better word).
Guy Ritchie had Jason Statham, Tarrantino has Sam Jackson and Kevin Smith has Jason Lee. Its not a comment on the quality of anyone, just on the goodness of fit.

I hope Jason Lee does a lead role in a lighthearted movie soon. Thats where he shines for me. Or better yet, to front a Kevin Smith movie again....at least just for old times sake.
In my searching the other day I noticed his twitter account bio states "part time actor", and i dont think it was a joke. Hopefully hes not slowing down too much.

Great spotlight Heath.Brad Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18426952757794850746noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217427319662074458.post-8877402334885921342014-11-05T07:56:42.867-06:002014-11-05T07:56:42.867-06:00Okay, I'll give Mumford another shot. If you haven't seen it in a long time, HHH, you should try giving it another look.

Also, that Underdog line will never not make me laugh.Patrick Bromleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00771837625286775607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217427319662074458.post-74346802775493309022014-11-05T07:37:21.422-06:002014-11-05T07:37:21.422-06:00I'm glad you're sticking up for Mumford, a...I'm glad you're sticking up for Mumford, and I'm glad that it works for you. I haven't watched it in ages, so maybe I'd be softer on it now. As for Fletch Won, I think Jason Lee would have been good, but I'm not sure that would have been the best casting. Now Jason Sudekis seems to be the lead, which feels like a better fit, and I don't think Chase will be in it unless there's a cameo, which will be for the best. Ultimately, like you, I'm glad that Kevin Smith script never panned out. It's far from perfect, but I think it knows what it wants to do and it does it well, and Loren Dean should have popped from it, he's great.

Heath, what did you think about Kevin Smith's aborted Fletch Won that would've seen Chevy Chase & Jason Lee both playing Fletch at different times in his career? As much as I like Lee (and I do) I was sort of relieved that never materialized. Do you ever mourn for what might have been?JPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17867827164062216789noreply@blogger.com
