It was great. Really charming. and I dont mean charming in the condescending way as in "oh, look at them trying", I mean as in "wow, they charmed the pants off me'".
Ive been a fan of Oliver Platt for a while now, ever since Huff! (way too often overlooked TV gem), and it is so good to see him in something as a lead. Very glad that these character actors charisma didnt run dry, which is tough for a feature length movie that is designed around their lighthearted charisma.

I too liked the end credits, but I would also highlight the opening credits. Possibly one of the best setup sequences for a movie. Really set the scene for what was to come in an indirect way, and good subtle mime is always a joy.

Thanks for the tipBrad Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18426952757794850746noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217427319662074458.post-90212217013760858232013-04-18T07:40:04.605-05:002013-04-18T07:40:04.605-05:00Glad you liked it!Glad you liked it!Patrick Bromleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00771837625286775607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217427319662074458.post-83968971489026434542013-04-18T00:18:29.005-05:002013-04-18T00:18:29.005-05:00Patrick great recommendation! Two questions: 1) Does Jason Schwartzman realize that he is Stanley Tucci (from this movie at least) and 2) Do you think an ensemble of today's hip young comedic actors could ever pull of a movie like this? Have they already and I missed it?

48 Hours Really liked this too BUT it has NOT replaced Lethal Weapon as my favourite buddy cop movie. Just a bit too much racism, that's a bit too mean for my liking. I like that Lethal Weapon doesn't play up the race angle that much and that Riggs never calls Murtaugh a nigger!

From now on I'm not going to be so picky with your Netflix picks and just fucking go for whatever. Charley Varrick especially was such a pleasant surprise that I've realized I don't need to second-guess you guys at all!Sol O.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217427319662074458.post-5156065212182392462013-04-13T02:25:14.059-05:002013-04-13T02:25:14.059-05:00Hoop Dreams is so great. What I meant more or less was that I like 48 Hrs as a whole movie better than Lethal Weapon (which I still enjoy).Adam Riskehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01165600746796326821noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217427319662074458.post-18659810155038799402013-04-13T00:56:28.543-05:002013-04-13T00:56:28.543-05:00I have caught quite a few new movies thanks to you...I have caught quite a few new movies thanks to your guys netflix suggestions. The best of which I have recently seen being Hoop Dreams, which according to a previous comment I read on the site, Erika now loves me yeah!

As to this weeks suggestions I have actually seen most of them and I will definitely go after JB's pick Charley Varrick. Adam, I like me some 48 Hours but I am the total opposite, Riggs and Murtaugh are just the best for me, they just embody everything thats awesome about 80's cop movies. While I like the interactions between Eddie and Nolte they just never gave me that same spark when Gibson and Glover are at each other's necks even after they become friends near the end of the movie.Tom Bartmannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217427319662074458.post-69358478117318984292013-04-12T09:13:26.005-05:002013-04-12T09:13:26.005-05:00I have Charley Varrick on my queue due to a recomm...I have Charley Varrick on my queue due to a recommendation from, of all people, author Joe Hill, who told me that it's right up your alley if you like The Friends of Eddie Coyle (and I LOVE that movie.)Joseph Finnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17168159790992899470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217427319662074458.post-2903595241027700402013-04-12T08:46:03.366-05:002013-04-12T08:46:03.366-05:00Count me in as someone who very much appreciates t...Count me in as someone who very much appreciates these Netflix recommendations - have watched quite a few and have many on my to-watch list (a feature I never had until I cheated my way into US Netflix - love it) - please keep em comin!

I just wish more of JB's "Unsung" titles were available on Netflix - Amazon streaming still unavailable up here unfortunately.Sol O.noreply@blogger.com
