There’s a non-competition animated film being shown as part of the program this year under “Highly Regarded” to bring the running time to 90 minutes. It’s from France and it’s about two Emergency Rescue guys on a ski mountain. It’s a hoot and a half.JBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17076030814908114779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217427319662074458.post-77915684266427084092020-02-06T12:03:00.812-06:002020-02-06T12:03:00.812-06:00JB, I am so excited to see these shorts this Satur...JB, I am so excited to see these shorts this Saturday, and your write up makes me even more excited. I always try to see the shorts before the Oscars, and it's great to see more people joining that little movement as you pointed out. I actually wanted to see these last weekend and the screening I selected was sold out but for the front row, so I decided to postpone til I could find more optimal seating. That made me more happy than anything because it means people are going to the theater to see movies made by people they've probably never heard of. Yay!

I don't think I'll get a chance to see the Documentary Shorts before the Oscars this year; it just didn't work out timing wise for me but I hope to catch up with them in the next few months. There are always lots of tear-jerkers amongst that group along with some gems.

Do you have any favorite shorts (either animated or live action) from the last decade? Did the filmmakers go on to make any features you saw? I think my favorite animated shorts from the entire time I've been watching them theatrically are Mr. Hublot and The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore. I'd have to think a little harder to come up with my fave live action shorts; for whatever reason they don't always stick out in my mind as much. rosiejoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15387708978537779522noreply@blogger.com
