I will address just three items: rewatchability?---of course it is rewatchable, and I am watching it even now, while writing this, which will be my second viewing of it today. The slow pace of the film, and the story, is consistent with the best of English ghost stories---which, in their best versions, rely upon the slow build up of detail and of dread rather than the jump scare which seems to be all that the post-MTV generation can handle these days. You should acquaint yourself with some of the ghost stories of Robert Aickman, perhaps the greatest practitioner of the form in the 20th century (and far more elegant than little Stevie King) and then, having done that as prep, revisit Burnt Offerings.
