Maybe it's because I was watching it through the eyes of a mostly younger crowd but some of the lighter moments felt a little cornier to me than usual. And I used to be Team Rob on Eddy Furlong's performance but I really noticed his shortcomings this time around. Even the thumbs up at the end that used to feel so perfect almost had me rolling my eyes. Maybe I've just become too cynical in the past couple years. I blame Trump. Sad!

It'll still always be a movie I love and that means a lot to me, I just think we need to have a little break (it's not you it's me?) - I'll watch it again with my kid when the time is right (10ish?) and I bet it'll have its shine back.Solhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03114869401584310369noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217427319662074458.post-42945256993461457032017-08-29T16:29:35.967-05:002017-08-29T16:29:35.967-05:00Yeah, that's the word. I'm used to it, so it's okay!"

On the Sarah Connor front: Totally agree about the character reveal. One of the things I tried to do on this viewing was look at the film as if it was my first time, and I noticed how brilliantly Cameron and Hamilton play that first reveal of Sarah in the institution. You see how far she's come since '84 and - had I been adult when I first saw T2 - I would have been floored by her transformation. It's so great. And also in that I was thinking of how well this one still holds up on a big screen with an audience!

One way in which RDC and I differ is that I legitimately feel sorry for the thousands of 1991-era (era) child actors throughout the greater Los Angeles area who got cheated out of the chance to do a better job than Edward Furlong. I wonder if they just cast a physical type ("I want a punky little bad boy we can still get onto the cover of Tiger Beat!") without ever having him do a line reading. Sorry, he's just... not good in this. #TeamCooksey

I'm also really glad you both love Sarah Connor -- Linda Hamilton gets better every time I see her in T2. And I still remember the moment back in 1991, seeing this (probably release weekend) in a theatre, when I first saw Sarah doing pull-ups in her cell -- and marveling at how she'd grown the character, and grown into the character, in the years since T1, when we weren't even looking. Her characterization gives the movie an immediate sense of urgency. Is it weird that, sometimes when my own kid was still young, I would ask myself as a mom "well, what would Sarah Connor do?" (Which I guess is why my yard is full of buried machine guns.)janbottighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00126929026388305201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217427319662074458.post-58574193626429048792017-08-29T13:09:33.454-05:002017-08-29T13:09:33.454-05:00So is "I need your clothes, your boots and yo...So is "I need your clothes, your boots and your answers"!

It doesn't look as though the release is coming to the SF Drafthouse, so I'm not sure I'll be seeing it after all.
