Just because something is represented (e.g. African-American, homosexual) doesn't make it about that representation. I'm baffled how many people are saying Moonlight is about race. I don't think it's about race any more than Good Will Hunting is about the "white experience". Who knows what Gosling and Stone would have brought to Focus, but La La Land strikes me as a significantly better choice for both of them. They're talented AND smart! I wouldn't mind seeing Emma Watson in that kind of role, but we're getting her as Belle, so I'm cool with that. Who possibly knows this much about music and movies and musicals and love and romance at 31?! Wow.

Apparently Miles Teller was originally cast in the Gosling role. Any thoughts on that? I'm a big Teller fan but there is this kind of snarky arrogance to him that I'm not sure would have served the character in the same way Gosling did.

Grant Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03129686595219748897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217427319662074458.post-42071300786394181212017-01-04T17:24:32.227-06:002017-01-04T17:24:32.227-06:00SLP's still my jam. I'm usually not a huge fan of hers but I was impressed with her Jackie because despite the affectations she's really able to convey what Jackie Kennedy was like in a "real person" kind of way. She does a good job of stripping away the icon aspect. I think the movie is just as strong as the performance.
