"Body by Plymouth; soul by SATAN!" I've always had a fondness for this movie that I cannot defend. Because, truth be told, it's not very good. Maybe it's because I like carz so much? If that's my only reason, I am a pathetic cinephile. "Cars are neat! Yay! Also, movies." -Doug. This teaser doesn't really show, well, anything, and I couldn't find an authentic theatrical trailer. Sorry ladies -- no sexy shots of Keith Gordon polishing the hood of his '58 Fury.

Duel
Release date: Nov. 13, 1971



Uh, Jaws on land, anyone? #FirstPersonToEverSayThatEver. TIL that Duel was originally a TV movie broadcast on ABC, then released theatrically over a decade later on April 22, 1983. Disregarding the latter release date, was there a better decade for car movies than the '70s? Hollywood Heath Holland knows what I'm talking about. The theatrical cut of Spielberg's first movie (not counting his short, Amblin') is 16 minutes longer than the TV version. I'm assuming to accommodate for scarier shots of the Peterbilt 281. Kinda makes me want to become a truck driver.

Jeepers Creepers

Sure, Jeepers Creepers isn't about a "possessed" vehicle, because an actual villain (THE CREEPER) drives it. But still, that rusted 1941 Chevy COE with a cow catcher that terrorizes our two heroes is pretty evil. Also, Justin Long, ladies and gentlemen! Finally, don't you [ironically?] miss the days of the '90s/early 2000s when a narrator would come out of nowhere to announce the title of the movie in tandem with the graphic? "NAME OF MOVIE!" in an evil voice. You'd swear this trailer was from 1993.

Joy Ride
Release date: Oct. 5, 2001



Whatever happened to Leelee Sobieski? Apparently, she was killed by a murderous trucker voiced by an uncredited Ted Levine (Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs). This movie was co-written by J.J. Abrams, and it stars Paul Walker. Surely, it can't be a piece of shit, right? Right? RIGHT?!
