Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (Jan. 24)

Or is it, "A Bad Book"? But wait, hold on -- we'll get to that in a minute. IN. A. MINUTE. Quickly, watch this CRAZY trailer for Her featuring ... Philip Seymour Hoffman? Instead of ScarJo? YEP! IT'S AS CRAZY AS IT SOUNDS! And the Internet just shit its pants!

Walk of Shame
Release date: April 25, 2014

She totally shows that kid her boobs, right? I mean, SHE LEAVES WITH THE BIKE. So, yeah. Boobs are a great form of currency. The only thing you have to watch out for is ... INFLATION. So this is definitely a case of building a movie around a catchy title, because YEEESH. I used to love Elizabeth Banks -- back when she tasted like a burger -- but these days, I'm not so sure. If you made it all the way through the preview, congrats! You've seen the whole movie!

The Babadook
Release date: TBA

This little indie film (in which "Aussies" put "shrimps" on "barbies," I'm assuming) is scaring the pants off audiences at Sundance. And Sundance is in Utah, and it's winter in Utah, so my point is ... PEOPLE ARE FREEZING THEIR BALLZ OFF BECAUSE OF THIS MOVIE! Babadook: Australian for horror.

Adult World
Release date: TBA

I get a Wonder Boys vibe from this, and that ain't all bad. Emma Roberts is FINE, and it's nice to see John Cusack in something new that's not The Raven. You guys, is it just me, or were you half expecting a Babdook to show up during that trailer? Just me? OK then. Maybe she should write a poem about Babadooks. Then she'd get famous. Or murdered. 60/40.

The Pretty One
Release date: Feb. 7, 2014

Do'do-do, yada-yee-yay ... AAAAAHHHH! That took a turn, didn't it? Was a Babadook driving that car?! And what's up with Jake Johnson and Ron Livingston CONSTANTLY fighting over the same girl? Jay-kay/just joshing. That's a little Drinking Buddies joke for my man @AdamR38. But srsly, I liked this movie better when it starred Melissa McCarthy as an identity thief, and Jason Bateman as a ... Babadook. I KID AGAIN! Because Valerie Harper didn't raise no Babadook.

Blue Ruin
Release date: April 25, 2014

Definitely a festival film. Because DAT FEELS. And while this preview looks very solemn and maybe thrilling, it also gives me anxiety. A title card mentions Hitchcock, but I'm also picking up Coen brothers/Blood Simple themes of revenge and desperation, with stark, beautiful cinematography. But no Babadooks. And that's a shame. Otherwise, wow.

Better Living Through Chemistry
Release date: March 14, 2014

Two words: Sam Rockwell. One more word: Babadook. And that one extra word is CRUCIAL, because, while I love Sam Rockwell (and Olivia Wilde has definitely grown on EVERYONE in 2013), this movie ... she a' look a' no good! #babadook

  1. Zoe Kazan just needs to get it over with and make a romantic comedy where Zoe Kazan wins the heart of Zoe Kazan.

  2. Babadook is nothing compared to Babadoug. Now that'll send shivers down the spine of children and parents alike.

  3. Better Living Through Chemistry looks like Fear and Loathing and Extract had a baby. A really ugly baby.
