  3. Totally agree, Heather. "The Strangers" is amazing. I'm not really a fan of the Home Invasion sub-genre, but that film is the definitive one to me. And you're also dead on with the sound design. I love that movie.

Also agree on "No Ones Lives" too. That's one of my favorite newer ones in the genre. I also really liked "The Town that Dreaded Sundown" remake, though I know it's not a popular opinion.

I bought the DVD for "The Sleeper" a few years ago when it was released (still think you can get it from the website) but I didn't think it was very good, though I respect the effort. That choreographed dance scene in the middle was excruciating yet funny.

Tucker and Dale is a crazy ass pick, haha

As far as favorites go, it's such a widespread genre that it's hard to choose. A few less obvious that I love are: Bay of Blood a.k.a Twitch of the Death Nerve, Slumber Party Massacre, New York Ripper, Silent Night, Deadly Night, Christmas Evil, Chopping Mall (if you count that), Madman, Alone In the Dark. Too many to name.

Love these discussions, thanks for another great podcast!

    1. Yeah, I wanted to give The Sleeper a shout-out simply because it was a movie made for literally no money (I said $40k on the episode I think, but I went back and looked, and it was $20k), with real affection for the genre, and I think that dance scene was their nod to Prom Night. LOL

I enjoyed the new TTTDS too, and glad to hear someone else out there dug No One Lives! Oh, and I adore that you brought up Alone in the Dark as well. :)

    2. I completely respect the shout out to The Sleeper, matter of fact, I regret saying I didn't really like it because I'm always championing zero budget Horror films.

    1. I'm a big Wheatley fan so I'd definitely be up for that. Kill List is great - I always love when a movie "goes off the rails" like that in its finale.

  7. My fave slasher is hands-down Friday the 13th Part III. I love it so much, and find it so definitive of the genre, that it eventually crawled its way into my personal Top 10 overall. Also love Nightmares in a Damaged Brain, Angst (if it counts,) the first Halloween remake, and especially Sorority House Massacre II. I can't believe Chaybee didn't mention Boardinghouse!!

    1. Ditto! I love Friday the 13th part 3! It's certainly my favorite Friday, and probably my favorite slasher overall.

    2. Although the original Child's Play ranks really high for me as well.

    3. Again...too many to name. Boardinghouse didn't even creep into my mind, nor did Houseboat Horror which I love as well!

  8. The Eyes of Laura Mars is awesome!!! It's been a few good years since I've seen it, but I remember it being very De Palma'ish. Sleazy, murder mystery. Patrick I think you'd really take to it.

  10. Heather is awesome, love when she's on. Her heaping praise on some of my favorites was like music to my ears. 'The Strangers'!!! My sister's favorite horror movie, we watch it probably once a year. Then she goes on a Leslie Vernon rant! I've showed that movie to everyone I know and it's one of my favorites from the past 15 years for sure. I tend to agree with pretty much anything Heather says and her picks...except this Scream business. I've watched that MTV show and man I just can't see what's there to like. Granted I've only watched most of the first season...I don't know. My sister loves that show though. She also loves 'Scream Queens' and 'Scream 4'...kindred spirits?
