  1. Wow, so many FAKE podcasters like JB trying to shut me down. But no one is going to stop me from putting up my reviews, the best reviews. No one in history has ever been better than reviewing movies than me, I can tell you that.

  2. Good podcast as always. I've got to agree Alien is basically note perfect (except that rubber head of Ian Holm). Not to be THAT GUY but a couple of corrections: Resurrection was Jean Pierre Jeunet not Luc Besson (that could have been interesting). Alien: The Director's Cut was actually a obligation by 20th Century Fox for the Quadrilogy boxset (all the films had 2 different cuts). In most cases Ridley Scott's directors cuts have been big improvements.

  3. Slight correction, it was John Curvan who had the Halloween 3 review. Not me. My reviews aren't ever that good!

  4. I think the reason people say "I can't wait for a sequel to X" is because presumably they enjoyed spending time in a particular world, and they want to be able to experience more of it. Of course, to your point, they can experience it all they want in the movie that already exists and is great instead of gambling on a sequel to be just as good.

  5. This is a video from Every Frame a Painting on how Jackie Chan approaches action comedy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1PCtIaM_GQ

It, and pretty much everything on the channel, is excellent.

    1. Yeah, it’s a great channel. Patrick, are you sure you know what Every Frame a Painting is?

    2. I misspoke, I'm sure, and grouped them in with something they don't do. Sorry about that.

    3. I think the most recent example of me doing this is the remake of Ghostbusters. I think they would be allowed to let loose and be their own thing in a sequel. But it is rare for me to wish for a sequel so soon after seeing a movie, if at all haha.

  6. Cheers guys. Fun as always

It was good hearing The Colour out of Space mentioned. I actually spoke to Richard Stanley about him trying to get the film made. That could be very interesting I think to see his version of this film

  7. Great Podcast! I saw Alien for the first time since I was a kid, I think new years day. I had completely forgot about Ash - and I think so had everyone else in the theatre - there was this current that went through the room. I love that this movie could still work a room like that.

  8. Excellenre podcast. I agree that Alien is a perfect film. I would love to hear a discussion in the future about what films would thought of as perfect or one flaw away from being perfect.

For example, I consider the film Wise Blood from 1979 to be one flaw from being perfect (that damn banjo music takes me out of the film).

  9. Great review of a great movie!

I remember reading Ridley Scott saying he can crank out as many Alien sequels as the studio wants. He seems to be just doin it for the money at this point, which is a shame. Also a shame that what most people want to see is the same stuff repackaged with modern cg.

  10. I loved this discussion. It has made me very eager to watch this film again. I am also very much looking forward to that podcast next year JB (on people's favourites)!
