  1. You guys were on a roll there with your 'seen anything good lately' of 2018 movies. But somebody had to watch The French Connection. Good movie though

  2. You're making my day!

Really looking forward to this one. I bet I'll be whistling Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah by the end of it.

  3. Btw, you can play pacman on google map now. So the movie is not that dated ;)

  4. As someone who lives in Cleveland, I can verify JB's account of the city.

  5. Hey Patrick,
You watched The Departed. I suggest giving Infernal Affairs a watch also. The film that The Departed is based on.

  6. Take this with a grain of salt, but I want to defend Terrifier a little. The clown horror sub-genre is probably my least favorite and I had no interest in watching it as I had seen this clown in the short from "All Hallows Eve" from the same director. I read a review from a fellow horror fan, who happens to be a female, and she was raving about it so I checked it out.

I thought it was great. 80's slasher vibe with practical effects done well and some really stupid decisions which is perfect for the genre. The clown gimmick really doesn't matter and I would've liked it better if it wasn't a clown and just some random guy. Yes, the movie is mean spirited. It's supposed to be. It's similar to Maniac (though Maniac is far better) but it's a slasher that doesn't care to be anything more which is why it worked for me.

    1. The effects were very good and the movie was well made for what it is. Just personal preference, I guess. Maniac is a movie that's about something. This is the kind of shit that's just EXTREEEEME for its own sake, which is very much in keeping with that company's brand and not a corner of horror that interests me at all. I know a lot of people are liking the movie, though.

    2. I totally got where you were coming from and I agree that Maniac, thanks mainly to Spinell, had more heart and more depth to the character. I don't know if it was received that way back in the days (I doubt it - Ebert walked out on it) but I think through time people have appreciated it (and Spinell) more. I began with "take this with a grain of salt" because by no means do I think it's a must watch or a movie I care about enough to defend in depth. I just wanted to give a different perspective to listeners who might have been on the fence to watch it.

  9. HOT TAKE on DEATH WISH: Vincent D'Onofrio should have had the Bruce Willis role.

  10. Thanks for this discussion. I also viewed Chase as a dork growing up, and loved his movies (even Cops and Robbersons). He always seemed like the universal dad to me, although I'm glad my actual dad never chased any mystery women around the countryside.

My home is in rural Missouri, and I've encountered my fair share of Eddies. I try to look down, but we all hang at the same bar.

  11. I get annoyed too when Netflix ends the movie once the credits start. I like the credits. I had a movie in the last couple weeks (can't remember which), where there were actual bloopers/etc. over the credits and Netflix ended it early and started playing Ad's for a new "Netflix Original". No! I want my credits.
