  1. DnD definitely counts as underrated. It was a box office bomb...208m worldwide gross on a 150m budget but has a loud voice on social media where you'd think it did better.

  2. Ok, so the only Frankenspy I can find is a 1hr 7min movie that released this year that is apparently on Full Moon's Amazon channel. I can neither confirm nor deny that the lead actress listed on the IMDB page is an adult film star. I also recognize Christine Nguyen's name from one of Doug's favorites mention on the podcast years back, Sexy Warriors (don't ask me how I remember that).

    1. This just keeps getting more and more intriguing. I will not rest in 2024 until I see… FrankenSpy!

    2. According to IMDb, Frankenspy is a re-edit of a 2010 movie called Bikini Royale 2, directed by Fred Olen Ray. So it's a 2023 movie on paper only.

    3. Ok, Fred Olen Ray also made a movie called Bikini Frankenstein in 2010 which also had Jayden Cole and in it. So did this Dean McKendrick guy credited as the FrankenSpy director just combine Bikini Frankenstein and Bikini Royale 2 to make a new movie?

  4. Thanks so much for making the point multiple times that antisemitism is a big problem in the world right now. The dead children of Palestine appreciate your heart being in the right place.

    1. If you're talking about their review of Sifu - they're talking about neonazism, not about people criticising Israel. Relax dude, not every mention of antisemitism is an endorsement of Israel's war crimes. Antisemitism is and always has been a problem, and the rise of neonazism is real. None of that has to do with Israel bombing Palestine. Patrick and JB are not insensitive right wingers - they're not your enemy.

  5. @JB - I LOVED Caine Mutiny Court Martial. But granted, I haven't seen any other movies that deal with it. I turned it on at 2am thinking I'd watch 15 minutes and get a feel for it before going to bed, but it gripped me so much that I finished it right there and then. I thought Friedkin's ability to turn stage material cinematic was on full display.

Couldn't agree more re Oppenheimer but I'd go further and say that some of the most unintentionally hillarious shit I've ever seen in a movie is there - the "I am become death" sex scene and the sex scene in front of HUAC had me uncontrollably laughing - and I mean uncontrollably. I had to leave the cinema to collect myself because I couldn't believe how stupid what I just saw was. And every time they cut back to Einstein's hat falling off, it felt like a parody. As for the rest of the movie, there was barely a scene in it that lasted for more than 30 seconds. It felt like a 3 hour montage. I'm astounded at how many people seem to think it's Nolan's masterpiece.
