  1. ahhhhhh! a top 10 all time movie fav!! i adore this movie more than words could say (also the many many many nerd tendrils it takes me down: rolling stone articles by Crowe/Torres/more, works of the esoteric lester bang, musicians work that inspired the story, rock bios and more). Cant wait to listen!!!

  2. An Almost Famous Show AND the return of Doug?! It’s a good day! Almost Famous is most definitely my favorite movie of all time, and I’m glad to hear it (mostly) get the love it deserves. I think Billy Crudup is great in the Russell part. I don’t think Brad Pitt would have delivered the correct look or energy. It’s an interesting thought, but I feel it was a good call not to use him.

    1. When they were talking about Crudup's part i kept thinking that if a celebrity had done it, like Pitt, the movie would've been about him and the conversation surrounding it would only about him. Now, with a lower-ish level celebrity, the movie can breath and be about the ensemble cast

  3. One silly thing I forgot to mention: For me, the best period piece movies make you feel nostalgic for times you never personally experienced. My favorite movie is "It's a Wonderful Life," and I find myself pining for Bedford Falls and the Baileys every December. Likewise, I grew up in the '80s, yet this movie makes me wish I got to experience this music when it was new. What an exciting moment in rock history. That's it. Thanks for listening!

  4. Hey, just a heads up, Michael Mann's The Insider is currently on the Criterion Channel as part of their 1999 programming. We revisited Doug Liman's Go, which is always a good time.

  5. Fun facts(?) about what Jason Lee is up to lately: (I don’t know the guy so grain of salt.) He left Scientology a while ago and prob just made enough money from Earl and The Chipmunks that he seems to have been focusing on his two hobbies of film photography and skateboarding. Happy for him if he’s happy but would love to see him in more comedies in large supporting roles like Banky Edwards, Azrael, and Jeff Bebe. (If only Kevin Smith hadn’t taken a decade off to get high.)
