I 100% agree about BB being pretty equal in quality to TDK after a recent rewatch. Katie Holmes rules just as much as Maggie Gylenhaal (speaking of have you seen the clip of Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless talking about TDK, it’s surreal and wildly misogynistic) and to me Tom Wilkinson is super underrated in terms of Nolan villain performances. I think Eric Roberts is fine as well but I feel like they never get back to the same gotham gangster vibe that you get when Bruce first meets with him and Wilkinson monologues with the gun in his face.
ReplyDeleteIts funny because growing up one of the two snap cases we had was OG Batman and I used to just stare at the logo as a kid but the movie was too weird and scary for me (thank god i never tried Returns lol) so I stuck to the animated series and my batman toys.
Do you a link to the Skip Bayless thing? Is it a podcast?
DeleteI really appreciated the horror discussion. I swear something is in the air.
ReplyDeleteEarlier this year I decided to not renew my Shudder subscription, after having it for years.
And this may be the last time you guys see me and Cortney at Flashback Weekend.
Are you just feeling burned out on it? I'm curious.
DeleteOn Flashback? Lots of reasons. Main one is we’ve both found ourselves not as excited for it was we used to be. Pair that with trying to be more responsible with money, and EVERYTHING that weekend continues to get more and more expensive. After going to cons for years there’s not many people I’d be excited to go meet anymore. And we’ve only got so much wall space to display 8x10s and posters. We were just going to do Friday this year, but the two photo ops we want to do are Saturday so we’ll probably head home after those. And this totally sounds like the stupid punk rock reason, but the bigger and bigger that con gets, the less special it feels. It’s like when one of your favorite bands gets big and starts playing arenas and everyone knows them. You’re happy for them, but it’s not the same.
DeleteIf you’re talking horror movies, I’d say the last couple years I’ve been kinda disappointed in a lot of stuff I watched. More often than not “Shudder originals” didn’t click with me. I find myself getting more enjoyment out of other things lately. Since the beginning of 2022? I’ve gotten WAY back into WWE after being totally out of it since like 1998.
