Wonderful ep sirs! One i very very much look forward to each year. As a movie lover its always fun to see when movies are so good that they rise high up on many folks lists. But, maybe moreso, i always come away from this episode with alot of great suggestions for movies not necessarily in my wheelhouse that i wouldnt find otherwise! Love it! Thanks for all you all do.
It's so fun to hear all four of you on the podcast! I enjoy finding out what resonates with different people and hearing the interpretations/reactions that maybe struck a chord with one person but not another.
I always enjoy this episode. Generally, FtM does a great job not just reducing everything to lists, which I like and admire... but I also (somewhat guiltily) love a good list (or four)! And even in a quick-hit format like this, you guys always find interesting stuff to say about movies. I especially enjoyed the discussion of Eephus / Reserved Seating parallels. It was nice to hear Adam talk about his feelings on Sinners, which sounded somewhat similar to mine (liked it and respected a lot of the craft; preferred the first hour to the vampire back half; didn't quite love or totally connect, despite really wanting to; I'm glad so many people dig such an original, thoughtful movie!).
Here are my 10 favorites from 2025 (so far): 1. One Battle After Another 2. No Other Choice 3. Marty Supreme 4. Weapons 5. Warfare 6. The Life of Chuck 7. Eddington 8. Black Bag 9. Train Dreams 10. Companion
I feel pretty strongly about One Battle in that #1 spot, but #2 -7 (or 8) feel pretty fluid to me. Almost everything mentioned in this episode or in the "Underrated" episode would be in my honorable mentions. I liked and loved a lot of movies this year!
For context, some movies I still need to see (possible future additions to the list) include: Blue Moon, Hamnet, If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, It Was Just an Accident, Jay Kelly, Nouvelle Vague, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, and Sorry Baby.
I look forward to reading these lists from other FtM contributors and commenters (more stuff to add to my watchlist)!
Maybe for ease of access, you could post all four lists in text form on Patreon? Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteUnless they'll all be posted here as separate articles like Rob's was, then forget I said anything.
I think they will.
