Announcing F This Movie Fest 2026!

by Patrick Bromley
"In the year 2000..." (sung to the tune of "In the Year 2000")

As 2026 already threatens to be the longest year in recorded history, we need to come together and at least try to feel joy in each other's company and in our shared love of movies. Enter F This Movie Fest, your time machine back to 2000 and the world's original online movie festival!

If you're unfamiliar with F This Movie Fest, it's a day every year where we all watch movies together and talk about them over BlueSky using the #fthismoviefest hashtag (what has become known as a "watchalong"). Here's the deal:

1. Secure copies of all six movies! (DVD/Blu-ray/4K, Amazon Prime Video, Apple/Vudu rentals, public libraries, etc.) Try to avoid streaming services that include ads because they will throw off the timecodes.

2. If you're not already doing so, follow F This Movie! on BlueSky (@fthismovie). If you're not already on BlueSky (some of you probably aren't), you should sign up! You can quit the very next day if you want -- or, even better, let it stay dormant until next year's F This Movie Fest!

3. Beginning at 10 am on Saturday, March 7, we all start watching the first movie at the same time from the comfort of YOUR OWN HOME and talk about it on BlueSky (just tag all of your comments with #fthismoviefest). It will be like a conversation just like WE'RE ALL IN THE SAME ROOM TOGETHER! By following the hashtag #fthismoviefest, you (hopefully) won't miss a single post!

4. This is not a snark fest. We are not making fun of these movies. We love these movies.

5. If you have to leave for a movie or can only participate in half the festival or whatever, that's cool! Just check in or out with us so we know who's there and when. Hopefully, we can all do the full marathon, but we know that's not easy for everyone. It's a long day! A marathon, not a sprint.

At the end of the fest, we typically do a live show on YouTube recapping the movies, sharing some favorite posts, and answering your questions. Be sure to join us! Details and a link to the show will follow on the day of the fest.

Here's the full lineup! And don't forget we'll be celebrating the films of 2000 the whole rest of February and leading up to March 7. It's 2000 month! It's F This Movie Fest again!!
