Once Upon a Time on a Tour Bus: A Personal Journey with ALMOST FAMOUS

by Brian Keiper
The hypnotic spinning blur of the label. The momentary crackle of dust and that little pop as the needle finds the groove. Static for a moment and then…the music starts and the feeling begins. It’s a feeling as natural as breathing, cycling at thirty-three revolutions per minute. There is really nothing like an old vinyl record.

I Gave Her My Heart, She Gave Me a Pen: Loss in SAY ANYTHING

by Adam Thas
I’m assuming, and hoping that any of you reading this have seen Say Anything, and if you haven’t, you should watch it now, and then watch it again. It’s one of my three all-time favorite movies (it switches between which one I’ve seen most recently) and in my opinion it’s perfect.

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (September 16)

Two nights ago, I watched both The Passion of the Christ and Jackass 3D (in regular old/stupid 2D, because I DVR'd it off Epix). Needless to say, it was an evening of contrasts. For example, one movie featured torture porn, and the other movie was Jackass 3D. Likewise, one movie demonstrated the triumph of the human spirit over suffering for a higher cause that is noble and just, and the other movie was The Passion of the Christ. YOU GET THE JOKE THAT I'M MAKING? You get the joke that I'm making. I was also surprised by the similarities between the two, such as the use of RIDICULOUS slow motion, copious bodily fluids and repetition! Finally, Jackass 3D featured genuinely sad moments, because, you know ... Ryan Dunn.
