F This Movie! - The Halloween Franchise

Happy Halloween! Patrick and Mike close the books on another Scary Movie Month by looking back at all eight movies in the Halloween series. Even the one with Busta Rhymes doing kung fu.

A big thanks to EVERYONE who made this year's F This Movie! F Scary Movies! Challenge II a huge success. Start looking forward to next year...after a much-needed 11-month break.

  1. So....um.....what are we supposed to do now? I can't believe it's over, you guys. To be honest, I'll be riding the horror train at least until Thanksgiving, when the Christmas spirit takes over and I dig out the old DVD copy of Jingle All The Way in case you do that commentary. There's just something about the months of October and November that promote horror movie watching and horror book reading. It's the approach and arrival of the dark half of the year, when the days are shorter and the sun starts to set seemingly shortly after lunch time.

Seriously, though, this has become such a part of my routine that I am going to have to adjust. Every day I've been coming here to post my seven word reviews, and look at how much it's promoted me to start posting on the website?

    My thoughts on this episode:

It was great to hear Patrick and Mike and Busta all in the same room. I don't know how you pulled such a notable rapper away from his bitches and crunk juice, but he added a lot. Anyway, I really enjoyed the discussion and thought your insights were pretty dead on. As for Halloween II, it was crazy how the dude in the mask who was NOT Michael Myers got creamed by the vehicle. Watching that a few weeks ago with my wife elicited an audible reaction from at least one of us. I think it was me, and I think it went something like "HOLY CRAP." I think a producer just really wanted to see a car cream a dude.

A fun little game you can play with Halloween II is to take a shot of your favorite liqour every time Loomis tells someone how many times he shot Michael. He says it over and over. "I shot him six times!" Or "I put six shots in him!" Or "My gun was full of bullets, but now it has none!"

Anyway, it's been a crazy month, and I want to say thanks for all the podcasts and the effort that went into this month. It's been a lot of fun coming here every day to see what was new and interacting with you guys. Ever thought about a site forum or anything? I hear there's a new forum called Twitter, and there's a lot of people who post on it. Seriously, though, it seems like there's a lot of people who are part of the community. It's been great.

    Thanks again, guys.

  2. Heath,

I can not speak for Patrick, Doug, or Mike (because they all tend to communicate in monosyllabic grunts) but I have appreciated your presence on the site. Loved your seven-word reviews-- love your comments.

    You go, girl.

  3. I second what JB articulated so poorly, Heath. Scary Movie Month was awesome, and your contributions were a big part of that. It's been great getting to know you over the last month, and hopefully you'll stick around to be part of the community of misfits we're developing at FTM.

I would love a forum, but don't even know enough about it right now to make it a reality. It probably doesn't help that we're still on Blogger, which is somewhat limited in its capabilities. There's talk of migrating over to some other platform, but I want to make sure we wouldn't lose any subscribers or anything before we do something drastic. Right now, the comments section and FB are the best way for us all to interact. The comments have actually gotten some action lately, and you're a big reason for that. So THANKS.

The car accident scene in Halloween II is shocking and hilarious, and alone makes it very hard for me to take the whole movie seriously. I totally LOL'd at your line about the bullets in Loomis's gun. Well done.

  4. Alright, then, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing, which is posting on the comments sections of the posts. I closed my Facebook account about a year and a half ago, and I left Twitter way earlier than that. There's just only so many times you can see someone posting about how insane their bowel movements are or what they are going to eat after going to the gym. And no one wants to get friend requests from their father's third cousin.

But having said that, I am thiiiiiiis close (*holds up index finger and thumb*) from getting back on those sites so that I can interact with people more. I guess we'll see what happens. You know what brought all that about? the Scary Movie Challenge. I've been listening to the podcast for a looong time (I've heard every episode) but it was this year's challenge that finally got me motivated to get involved. So that's a testament to how great you guys are and how fun the show is.
