I've always thought the perfect movie is "Raiders of the Lost Ark" . "Die Hard" is 99.9% perfect.
Watched "Going Clear" as well. That movie is terrifying. It also really affected my man crush on Tom Cruise. I love that guy, but man, he is looney tunes.
This podcast has already rustled my Tom Crus-ian jimmies. Because right now, my answer to the actor you'd see any movie of theirs question is probably Tom Cruise. I don't want that taken away.
So is Kevin Smith kind of the opposite/converse of James Cameron and Ridley Scott and even Michael Bay? While they do more of the same stuff because it's popular (Avatar 2-4, Prometheus 2, Transformers, etc.), Kevin Smith tries to do new things and then goes back to what he knows people like when it inevitably doesn't work out.
I "love" Jake Gyllenhaal and I have been the biggest fan since Donnie Darko, But I cant watch Brokeback mountain. I feel uncomfortable about watching it. I know im missing out and I have seen everything else hes in and this film will keep me from closing the circle. But I just cant do it. This probably says something about me, Freud would figure it out...
Dennis - Adam is right, it's a really good movie and worth watching. Just do what I did - keep a screencap of Maggie Gyllenhaal handy - I'd recommend something from Secretary - and if you find yourself getting aroused during the hot cowboy lovemaking just look over at Maggie and chalk it up to her. You CAN get through Brokeback Mountain with your sexuality intact, Dennis, give it a try. :P
I knew it. I hoped it would be bad then I could use that as the excuse. Im not saying im a manly man. Im not. I just dont want to see men kissing. I own Secretary. If a scene come up im not comfy with I could certainly look away at the Secretary cover art instead. Sounds like a plan.
Tonight Troll hunter Bluray just turned up so that's my excuse for tonight sorted
Perfect movies that I could watch anytime: All time favorite: The great escape Horror: Psycho Comedy: Airplane! Family: Toy Story Also Cool Hand Luke, Raiders of the lost ark, and Terminator 2 are perfect for most occasion
I don't think I want to call it a PERFECT movie, but I will say that there's never not a time I'm in the mood to watch Clue. Same goes with Die Hard, except that is a perfect movie.
Since I missed the twitter request for questions, I'll pose one here for all the 'F-Heads.'
Has there ever been an actor/actress that you normally can't stand but still gave a performance that you really liked or loved? Therefore, you still have a soft spot in your heart for them.
For example (For me): Adam Sandler - Punch Drunk Love, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore Colin Ferrell - In Bruges, Crazy Heart, Seven Psychopaths John Travolta - Pulp Fiction
Or in contrast, an actor that has given a performance that you like but still can't stand: Kevin Spacey - LA Confidential, The Usual Suspects, The Ref?... Maybe? Anne Hathaway - Rachel's Getting Married, Batman Begins?...Maybe?
I usually don't like Zac Efron but I really liked his performance in Neighbors.
I think Robert Downey Jr is great in Zodiac and Natural Born Killers but I still don't like him (I just find his smug/"aren't I a sh*t" thing obnoxious)

DeleteThere IS at least one notable name in Beauty and the Beast: Angela Lansbury voices Mrs. Potts. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd for people of a certain age, Robbie "City Lights" Benson.
DeleteThanks for answering my question. :)

ReplyDeleteI thought I would go see anything that Jake Gyllenhaal was in with his current rising talent, then Accidental Love came out.

DeleteYou're missing a really great movie Dennis. Think of it as being about a long distance romance and it's equally effective.

I like the bow tie method for the ability to take a complex event and create a visual display that is easy to communicate and understand. http://www.showmesnowgeese.com/duck-goose-hunting-packages/
