  2. Luckily, this movie was on Netflix. Unluckily, I watched it. It's just boring. I had seen it awhile ago and I thought it was better. How come every time you describe a fucked up Fulci movie, I have to watch it? Have you seen Demons? That one looks a little interesting. We still have to talk about NY Ripper...

    1. 1. You should absolutely see Voices from Beyond.
      2. I have seen Demons, but it's been a few years and I need to rewatch it now that I'm much more into that kind of movie (more on this tomorrow).

    2. I like Lamberto Bava as much as the next guy, but there's no way he can ever trump Fulci. He comes close with Demons, though. Maybe having Michele Soavi in your movie gives you luck.

  3. I was thinking Steve Carrel fox catcher the whole time I was watching 54. This movie also reminded me how much I used to like Neve Campbell. I miss her and the late 90s. Not this movie though.

  4. Good episode, I watched 54 for the first time a few months back and was optimistic going in. I can remember when it came out thinking, 'huh, Mike Myers isn't in a comedic role?' I was young in 1998, grew up on Wayne's World, so it was different to see the funny man trying to do a serious role. I wonder if he was trying to follow in the footsteps of Jim Carrey, who at the time was taking more serious parts for a comedic actor and succeeding in doing so (well mostly). Well sadly, Mike Myers was average at best in this one. However, he was the only part of 54 that I actually enjoyed, maybe I was blinded by my fandom a bit. The rest of the characters are just boring, the whole movie is boring. The movie that was trying to be Boogie Nights turned out to be the 'Anti-Boogie Nights'. Where Boogie Nights got it right this movie just seemed to get it wrong, over explaining characters motivations and roles is so annoying, I couldn't imagine it with a voiceover. I don't see how it would help make it any more interesting. Nothing could save this film. Love the podcast, I've been listening for years, sorry I haven't posted on the site before now, but I'm a big fan of the show, keep up the good work!

  5. I like how your Daughter was named after a Fulci film, thats cool :)
My thoughts on the whole test marketing thing is exactly the same as Bill Hicks
"Show me the film the Artist made, The way the Artist wanted it to be, I really don't care about the 100 random Yahoo's who did or did not like the film"
Thats pretty much perfect for me
