Here's to a great 2016!
Patrick here. It's the last few minutes of 2015 as I write this. I'm sitting next to my wife watching movies. My kids are asleep upstairs. I'm working on F This Movie!. These are the things I love most in this world. The year shouldn't end any other way.
As we begin another year at F This Movie! and another year on Earth, it's a great time to once again remind anyone reading how much you mean to us and how much your support is the whole reason this site exists. If you've ever enjoyed something we've written or said on the podcast, it matters. If you have commented or emailed or liked something on Facebook or Twitter or donated or told a friend about us, it matters. If you're reading this now, it matters. We only keep this thing running because we love talking with all of you. Hopefully you dig what we do too.
I would love to promise big things in the coming year, but I don't know what those are yet. I hope we continue to grow and to improve because that's always my goal. I'm not yet sure how that's going to happen, exactly, but I promise to try. We will continue to do our best to talk about movies in a way that you hopefully find enjoyable or insightful or funny or at least a little different than other sites and podcasts on the internet. All we ask in return is that you continue make this community what it is. It matters.
Thank you to the writers and contributors to F This Movie! for their tireless work, their insights and their talents. Thank you to all of you readers and listeners for being so supportive and positive and wonderful and friendly. Thank you to Erika and my kids for understanding why I have to stay up late so many nights and write. Thank you to 2015 for everything it was, and thank you to 2016 for everything it hopefully will be.
Five minutes left in the year. I've got a pretty girl to kiss and a top 10 list to make. Happy New Year, F This Movie!. And thanks.
Thanks to you Patrick and all the hard workers who make this site possible! It's pretty darn terrific. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI dig what you do. :) Thank you, Patrick, for creating such insightful, humorous, respectful, and enjoyable discourse for us all to enjoy on a regular basis. Thank you to your incredible wife for being the fun, sweet, kindhearted soul that she is. And thank you to the rest of the group for providing their own brand of thought and entertainment whenever they grace the podcast with their presence. I love you all, and wish nothing but a happy, healthy, safe, prosperous 2016 for all! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy 2016, Patrick! Thanks to all of the F-
ReplyDeleteheads for another great year! I've kissed MY pretty girl, she is fast asleep now so I'm watching another movie cause I'm awake and, well, that's what I do. Cheers all!
Happy New Year! No girls around here, but managed to turn the corner of midnight by finishing my 700th movie of 2015. Which movie? New Year's Evil, natch! Looking forward to 1400 more wasted hours with you guys in 2016.
ReplyDeleteAnd here I was thinking I watch a lot of movies, with a total of 417 in 2015. Turns out it's nothing.
DeleteHappy New Year to all who read this and especially those who don't.
Same here, Mikko, I can't compete with that number! New Years "EEEEEEVIIIIL" is a great pick E.S.A.D.D!
DeleteAnd here I was thinking my total wasn't as bad as I thought with 160! 700? Daaamn!
DeleteHappy new year to everyone here on FTM. And many thanks for countless hours of reading interesting insightful articles and having great fun with your podcasts. Over the last year I heard almost all of them and have just around 10 left to be up to date. I´m looking forward to anything coming up here in 2016.
ReplyDeleteThanks Patrick, and thanks to all the contributors who give us great thoughtfull columns to read and chat about film, and share and spread our experiences, and also grow and understand our love for... MOVIE'S!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR ALL, I HOPE IT TREATS YOU WELL ;)
Happy New Year to you, Patrick, and all the great people that contribute to the site in one way or another - if I have an "internet family" it's here, and I couldn't be happier to be a part of it.
ReplyDeleteClosed out the year with Turbo Kid - definitely finished with something special there - and I very well may never have heard of that Canadian-New Zealand (is there a better combo than that? Australia maybe?) joint were it not for this site, so there's another one I owe ya!
Strike first!
DeleteStrike hard!
Show no mercy!
;)
:) I think Apple may be the fastest a character has gone from "She's annoying" to "Oh my god, I love her".
DeleteNot for me, Sol. Apple is the one thing that hurt Turbo Kid for me, although I still like it. She just really annoyed me. Everyone can hate me now.
DeleteWe never hate on here! Especially you Chaybee ;)
DeleteI can see how she could rub someone the wrong way, Her Character has to be permanently upbeat, always happy and friendly, and its hard to play that part without being annoying, it's like her part needed a disclaimer, the second time I watched it once I knew what she was doing it made more sense and I liked her more, the third and fouth times I fell in love with her, every single little quirk makes me smile
"This is my Knome Stick!"
Happy New Year everyone! Thankyou for being my favorite film website on the internet for 2015 (which probably by default makes this my favorite website). Can't wait for whatever you guys have to say in 2016. This year was particularly important for me, because this website essentially got me into horror, something I never believed I'd do as a young and unenlightened child. It was a lot of fun, as is this whole website. It's amazing how much fun the website and podcast manages to be while also being so accessible and insightful. Oh, and looking forward to the top 10s!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Favorite moment of the year has to be the *shoots self in head* Gene Shalit (I think that's the guy) reviews.
The site and podcast were so exceedingly excellent this year. I hope to have a smidge more time to chat with all of you in this great community in 2016. Happy new year everyone!
ReplyDeletep.s. I am ridiculously excited for fthismoviefest. Cannot wait!!!
Happy New Year everyone -- THIS movie lover loves F This Movie!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is still in the mood for a Christmas movie, I just watched "Christmas, Again" (2014 Dir. Charles Poekel) Indie Christmas film, really, really well done. Poekel's debut feature has all of the right things going on. Think Swanberg and just as good IMO.
ReplyDeleteMeant to mention it's free on Amazon Prime and Fandor.
