Welcome to the show, Melissa!
ReplyDeleteUh oh, they're gonna talk about Irreversible. Get ready for some opinions. lol
ReplyDeleteLoving the podcast so far - nice to hear a Canadian accent on the show (a Prairie accent no less - I was born in Sask and have a ton of relatives there) instead of just that Canadian-wannabe Chicagoan accent. :P You're doing a great job Melissa! Jealous of the amount of movies you guys managed to watch!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Melissa! Really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on last year directly from you. Now I have some more titles to add to my list that I missed last year.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Melissa! This one is going straight to the pool room. Love The Castle.
ReplyDeleteMy wife's also terrified of ET. When she was a little girl, she thought he looked like a scary powdered doughnut (when he was sick). Even to this day, she doesn't like watching the movie.
ReplyDeleteI mock her mercilessly.
What a nice surprise, Welcome to the podcast Melissa, I enjoyed that a lot, :)
ReplyDeleteHey! Finally someone on the show who likes Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. I like her already. More Melissa in the future please.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to watch Roar. That sound's completely bananas! Thanks for the many great recommendations. I'm going to have to relisten to this with my hands free this time (and pen/paper).
ReplyDeleteGreat to have a new voice on the podcast (not that there's anything wrong with the old ones).
ReplyDeleteGuess I'll have to give Oscar another chance. Tried watching it a year or two ago but got bored and bailed after less than 30 minutes.
Great podcast guys, good to see I'm not the only one who keeps far too many movie lists and sub lists each and every year. And I was so so happy to hear a mention of the Aussie classic 'the castle' and then 'Oscar' within a couple minutes of each other!
ReplyDeleteI'm a huuuuge Oscar fan. I think it unfairly gets lumped in with Sly's other comedy effort that I won't bother naming. But Oscar is so great, had a huge laugh at Patrick's Dr Pool - 'here's money.....here's moooore money.'
"don't call me boss."
"sorry boss."

Deletealthough....one thing that has always bothered me about Oscar....and *SPOILERS* for those who haven't seen it, the story never resolves the whole issue with Lisa's lie about being pregnant. Would Sly have been as happy about her marrying Dr Pool if he knew she wasn't pregnant?
DeleteThis is what keeps me awake at night
Thanks for the podcast welcome you guys!! In all my years of talking, I have NEVER been the one with the accent... It's news to me! Hahaha!
DeleteSoooooo looking forward to our Oscar podcast, and to open it up so many new and revisited eyes!
You should hear my accent Melissa :)
DeleteIt's really broad ....
30 minutes into the podcast I've paused it 3 times already.
ReplyDeleteOnce to watch Roar
Another time to watch They're Playing With Fire
And another time to rewatch Irreversible. Yes rewatch. I've somehow stomached multiple watches.
I was pretty sure I was going to see an actual death on film while watching Roar. By the end of it though I was actually moved by the beauty of the animals and the coexistence of the human characters with the animal characters. It was worth the watch for sure.
They're Playing With Fire gave me some huge laughs. Especially SORT OF SPOILERS? the Santa Claus scene. Sybil Danning is so great.
Oh god Irreversible.
Anyway nice to hear a new voice! Love the accent Melissa. I'll finish the podcast now. WIll probably pause again to watch/rewatch something else.
This just made my night. And I was having a pretty terrible night. Thanks.
DeleteHey! I'm glad I could turn the night around for you. Least I could do since you and the rest of the guys on this site and on the podcast have made me smile and laugh and have introduced me to some new movies over the last year or so. You're the man, Patrick!
DeleteWolfcop fans: there are dozens of you. DOZENS!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the podcast, Melissa! An excellent debut, and I love hearing that accent (and the other accents on F This Movie).
ReplyDeleteI had to relisten to the podcast a few times, finally waiting until I had my hands free to take notes and now have a hefty list of movies to check out. "There's a scene where Paul Bartel is sitting on a couch with Martin Scorcese and Sylvester Stallone and they're just eating chicken?" - sold! They should put this quote on the front of the box, I can't imagine anyone resisting.
What is "Netflix" doing you both are referencing around 45 minutes in?
