  2. *Phew!* I was afraid this wasn't coming when I woke up and didn't see it this morning. Anyway, I'm looking forward to listening, and happy Halloween to all!

    1. Me three guys. It's prob the podcast I look forward to the most every year. I'm a little sad we didn't get a specific movie podcast with Doug tho, the yearly tradition of "Doug wonders if he actually likes horror."

    2. Doug and I tried to record something but couldn't make it work this month. We'll be back next year, I promise!

  3. Great episode! You both convinced me to check out at lease the first Child's Play. And I completely agree with Patrick about The Boy - plus it was filmed in my hometown!

  4. I'm sorry to cut in while I'm only a portion of the way through the podcast, but I have to agree that the "breakfast in bed" scene from the first movie is one of my favorite "non-horror" scenes in a horror movie. And it contains one of my favorite line readings from ANY movie.

    "Since forever!"

    1. And consequently, "play with this" is one of the dumbest and worst I think I've ever heard.

  5. Chucky can never be as scary as the actual My Buddy dolls. Or that son of a B Teddy Ruskin. (Son of a B meaning son of a Bear)

Maybe next year you could cover Stuart Gordon's horror movies? That'd be 7 or 8 I think. No Fortress unfortunately.

    1. I can't believe I went that entire podcast and didn't sing the My Buddy theme song. I'm sorry if I let you down, Will.

    2. Not at all! It was a great cast. I saw the My Buddy commercial after. It's my The Ring video.

  7. You guys delivered big with this one. So much fun. Thanks

Kind of like how Patrick uses The Tension Experience to explain lame day to day stuff, I want to somehow incorporate "Can we talk about the Chili scene" in day to day life. It won't make sense to people when I say it, but I'll know. Yes, I will know.

    Stay spooky.

  9. A few years ago, I went to a preview screening of "Prime" with Meryl Streep and Uma Thurman. That was my misframed boom-mic-heavy theatrical experience.

  10. Patrick absolutely killed me this episode. Had me in stitches. Probably the most excited I've ever heard him at the end of a Scary Movie Month. I revisited almost all of the franchise shows this month and you could clearly tell and that's good to hear. The site was amazing all around this past month, podcasts, articles, and the rest. The F This Movie crew has been on top of their game this year, especially this SMM(not that you guys weren't amazing before, but I think the content has reached new heights recently).

Every time Patrick mentioned Brad Dourif and his amazing voice, I couldn't help but hear it in my head. I think if it were any other actor doing that voice, we might not be talking about this series today.

The glob of butter than Andy puts on his mother's toast is excessive, but when Mike said, 'you haven't seen me put butter on toast.' I couldn't help myself from chuckling in agreement.

Also, when Patrick said I've seen Child's Play 2 the most out of the series, I found myself thinking, 'me too!' I must have seen that movie at least 50 times before the age of 10 even. Growing up in the 90s, that fricken movie was on like every other week. I don't know if it was USA, but it was on cable a lot. Any time it was on I would watch it just for that damn factory scene, lol. I also recorded it off tv on VHS, ya know, just in case it wasn't being played that week, *wink.

Chucky worked for me when I was a kid. I can remember having a very bad experience with a Teddy Ruxpin once. I was by myself and I just kept staring at this doll, I don't even know why or how we got it, it might have been for my sisters, but for some reason it ended up in mine and my brothers room that night. Then suddenly the mouth just started moving out of nowhere, but there was no sound coming out of it. Haha, needless to say I was like 7 years old and completely started imagining the scenario where this thing kills me in my sleep and I threw it in the closet as fast as I could. There's no question the Child's Play series had an effect on me back then. Anyways, great show as always, one of the funniest in a while. Thanks for the best October I've had in a long time!

  11. Sadly the third Child's Play was always my favorite growing up. I think it was the one that was always on TV and after Red Dawn as an 80's kid I was always fascinated with military schools. I should be able to say that looking back I realize how weak it is compared to the rest, but it still has a special place in my heart. You know what they say. "You just can't keep a Good Guy down."

  12. I have a weird fondness for the Child's Play series, even though I only genuinely enjoy the first movie. I can't explain it.

Growing up, there was an Alfalfa Video near my home. They had this kiosk which you could use to queue trailers for their latest releases, and I remember hovering over it watching the "Sorry Jack, Chucky's back" teaser for Child's Play 2 and being really creeped out by the doll. I think that's kind of stuck with me.

Like Patrick, I've probably seen CP2 the most times, even though I don't think it's particularly good. Bride was the only entry I've seen theatrically, and I remember hating it and writing a particularly snarky review for my high school paper ... Hey, I was a teenager. I was allowed to be stupid and self-centered.

I honestly think I could watch any one of these movies at any time and enjoy it. Except for Seed, which, wacky as it is, just bores me.

  13. I really don't think a series needs to establish itself as going to different locations, to make something like going to west or going to a school work, that just seems like it's a bit of a nitpick to me. It's meant to be a one-off thing, and that's actually completely fine with me.
