  1. Have a great Christmas everyone!

I have the movies packed. Now just to pack the less important stuff like clothing, before the trek to my folks place.

  3. Stay positive everyone. There are plenty of great movies still coming out we just have to work harder than ever to find them. This community certainly helps. Hope everyone has a good Holiday. If not, watch The Long Kiss Goodnight. It will get you in the holiday spirit.

    1. If nothing else, next year has a ton of promise: Baby Driver, Fast and Furious, John Wick 2, Blade Runner 2046, War for the Planet of the Apes, Guardians of the Galaxy 2...we'll be fine. :)

    2. I gotta say, I'm pretty blown away by how many movies I loved came out this year, as well as how many important movies; like final movies from Zulawski and Chantal Akerman, new stuff from Verhoeven, Peter Greenaway, Park Chan-wook, Sokurov, a new motherfucking Godzilla movie directed by Hideaki Anno, etc, etc, etc. I'm having a hard time whittling them all down into a Top 10.

    3. Good call. 2016 is a year when the greatest Godzilla movie of all time was released.

  4. Let's hope nobody has to be John McClane this weekend...

  5. I had a great 2016! New Shane Black, a bonafide all-time classic Horror film was released, I celebrated my 40th B-day and wasn't all fuckin' depressed about it, my wife and I had our 2nd year anniversary, I got a new bed, new toilet, new synths, made a new record, and I think I grew 1/2 an inch. Lovin' life. Happy Holidays! You all are fantastic, even Sollenberger with your crazy ass Die Hard rankings, and I'm super happy to be a part of this fam.

    2. No doubt! I had to throw that one in there! Haha

    3. Yeah, on a strictly personal level 2016 was actually a pretty good year for me. It helps that I took an actual vacation for the first time in ages, plus had an expenses-paid work-related trip that was more fun than work. I also hit my goal of 50 movies a month for the year and will never do that again, but it was great. I almost feel guilty for having a good year, but I guess better to enjoy it while it lasts.

Happy Holidays to all and looking foward to everyones' top 10's coming up!

    4. I'm telling you there's lots to like in A Good Day to Die Hard. That car chase is top notch and the director's cut excises McClane's daughter.

    5. You rank 3 over 1 and 5 over 2. You're a maniac!!! :)

    6. Haha I've always found the side-characters in 2 really grating and annoying. Of course I love 1 but I love 3 slightly more! Can we at least agree 4 is awful?

    7. You like 5 though. Your credibility is shot. I'm sorry but that just facts.

    8. 4 (directors cut) way better than 5.

    9. Nah c'mon give it another chance. It's a solid action movie. Bonus points for Cole Hauser!

    10. :) the debate continues. If the Die Hard prequel comes out maybe we'll agree on that one (in that it's an excellent idea!) #Sarcasm

  6. Oh yeah, saw Blair Witch last night. Actually kind-of liked it and I think it's better than the original though Heather Donahue was definitely missed. I didn't like anyone in this new one and what was growing in chicks foot? I didn't get that in context to the story. Also saw Autopsy of Jane Doe, not really a fan. Saw the angle from almost the beginning.

    1. YES!! I liked the new Blair Witch better than the original too. And, spoilers, Heather Donahue was kinda in this one too, ha ha! Just finished Toni Erdmann, which I'd been hearing crazy hype for but which didn't do anything for me, and before that The Wailing, which was as good as I'd heard it was.

    2. I've been putting off the Wailing forever. Try to get to it this weekend but about to revisit an old Christmas Joe Dante classic.

    3. Haha! Yikes. That actually makes me sad cause Damn this movie is so freakin good.

    4. Although it dawned on me that there is a flaw in the rule "Never feed him after midnight". That basically means don't ever feed him. Haha. Like is 6 am okay? So you wait till noon? I know...being silly with details. Just an observation.

    5. Good point! Also don't get them wet? So no food or water. Seems like a low maintenance pet...but a pretty smelly one.

  10. Merry Christmas to you all.

I spent my afternoon watching Reindeer Games with the FtM commentary. An experience that is oddly appropriate for good ol' 2016.

  11. Saw some movies. Passengers was meh. Fences was really good. Why Him was ok, sorta funny.

  12. Beckinsale's hotness makes "The Disappointments Room" bearable. Check "Whiteout" instead, which isn't that good, but much more watchable.

    1. I wish fury road black and white was available as standalone. I can't justify spending 80$ just for this one when i have all the others already

    2. You can get it individually from the collection. Its $25 on Amazon right now.

    3. Well, look at that. It's on preorder, coming out january 31st

  15. The trailer for Alien: Covenant was released over the weekend. Seems to lean more toward horror with elements of the first two films. Does not appear to have much connection to Prometheus.

    1. There is the two main characters still alive at the end of prometheus in it. Fassbender and noomi rapace

It is also suppose to bridge prometheus to alien
