Buy Heather Wixson's Book MONSTER SQUAD

by Patrick Bromley
Everyone's favorite Top Critic is now a published author!

You guys all know Heather Wixson. You all love Heather Wixson. She has busted her ass over the last year to write her first book, Monster Squad: Celebrating the Artists Behind Cinema's Most Memorable Creatures, a collection of interviews with so many great makeup and effects artists. I have read most of the book and I can say that the conversations are really fun and informative and made me appreciate just what an exciting time the '80s and '90s were for this stuff. The fact that so many artists were simultaneously working on the same projects and in direct competition with one another lends itself to some great stories and insights into how the effects were achieved and how some of our favorite movie moments came together. It's a book I would love reading even if it wasn't written by one of my closest friends.

And now the book is for sale! After months of hard work and waiting, everyone can support their favorite top critic by buying a copy of Monster Squad. In fact, buy one for yourself and one for a friend or family member! It makes a great holiday gift! Be sure to use the Amazon link below to directly support Heather as she begins writing the next installment. She's the best and we are so, so proud of her. Congratulations, Heather!

    2. Double checked on my Chromebook when I got home and still don't see the link, just a heads up. Want to buy but will wait for the link to directly support.

    3. I genuinely have no idea why it wouldn't be showing up for you. Is anyone else having this same issue? There should be a box that shows the cover art for the book and the Amazon logo, same as at the end of most of our pieces where you can click through and buy the DVD/Blu-ray. At any rate, here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/Monster-Squad-Celebrating-Memorable-Creatures/dp/1629332216/ref=as_sl_pc_as_ss_li_til?tag=themisoftheho-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=6b53c0e964a0c8c20e91c8da7a5f4a04&creativeASIN=1629332216

    4. Thanks! Okay...super bizarre as the plot thickens... the link shows up on my phone when I go to the F This Movie website (Galaxy Android) but not on my Chrome web browsers at work or at home. Google Chrome issue since they beef with Amazon? Weird.

    7. For sure, I know as well as anyone how direct support is most important for artists.

  4. Been reading a couple chapters a night and think it's pretty great so far. Like a lot of people here I'm sure, I have a huge appreciation for practical effects so it's cool to read about these folks talking about their careers.

  5. Very cool, I like to read such posts, especially since such reviews are even more relevant during quarantine when people are sitting at home and have nothing to do, but they need to develop themselves, I also recommend that you read about the main idea of a letter from Birmingham jail by clicking on the link in my profile and read the full text of the review. Read the entire analysis, the situation is very interesting, I think what would be useful for a deeper study of this topic, good luck!
