  1. Aw yeahhhhh. I was just talking to someone about the Josie soundtrack and how Pretend to Be Nice (produced by Babyface!!) slaps, as the kids say. Looking forward to this ep!

  2. Bummer you didn't dig Beyond Skyline. It was one of my favorite films of last year. I had a complete blast with it! I don't think it's "crazy" I just think it kicks ass. I loved the A-Team as well, so much fun. Never seen Josie and the Pussycats and I completely dismissed it when it came out but sounds like something I should check out.

  3. First, I love that Pure Cinema watching idea and now I totally want to do the same thing. Sounds awesome Rob!

Second, my mind is blown by your take on All the Money in the World. I thought it was amazing and Scott's best film in a very long time. Hey, "the world is a rainbow".

  4. All the Money in the World felt like a European true crime movie from 2008 or something -- think Mesrine movies or Carlos, etc. It didn't feel like an American wide release movie -- except for some of the ACTINGGGGGGG. I did like it pretty decently.

  5. I'll never really be okay that Rosario Dawson didn't play Wonder Woman, nothing against Gal Gadot but come on. COME ON!

I was wondering when you were referencing Starship Troopers, because I always thought that that movie was definitely satirizing itself (and many other things) but also really enjoying BEING that kind of movie. I think that's my favorite kind of satire, where the filmmakers actually love the shit they're making fun of, as oppose to something that's brutally cynical like The Player.

  6. and The Losers is in no way, never, ever, at no time, not at all as good as The A-Team. there's a decent bunch of actors who do whatever they can to make it good, but the movie is just very boring

the comic book of which it's based on is awesome though

  7. just started watching the movie.

i don't remember if you talked about Donald Faison being in DuJour, but he's totally in the band. ironically, he was in the first Skyline movie.

and the guy in the crowd is totally Justin Chatwin (most known for Dragonball Evolution)

interesting tidbit, just adding to your commentary about what the movie is saying, 'du jour' is a french term meaning 'of the day', or nowadays would be like 'trending'. and we all know these 'trending' have a short shelf life, like most of the boy bands at the time (still true nowadays i guess)

Rosario Dawson is very good, and i want to see her in everything, but i don't think we miss her. she's been in a lot of stuff, a lot of tv (recently she was in all of the Netflix's Marvel tv series), a lot of voices for videogames and animated movies and series. she did smaller movies, movies that one would consider just above direct-to-dvd. but she did way better than Rachel Leigh Cook who's basically only doing Hallmark Channel RomComs nowadays. which is fine by me, i love those movies, but it's not what one would consider great movies. i wish RLC was in more good stuff.

  8. Rob going on about Drive-Thru Records brought so many joy joy feelings. I need to bust out some Midtown and Hellogoodbye. And he's totally right Josie would be on that label.
