  1. Well now I'm even more hyped to see both Pig and Zola at a film festival next week. Both on the same day too!

  2. Got to admit...seeing Space Jam A New Legacy show up in the photo depicting their "Collected and Agreed Upon Top 5 Movies of the Summer" was a bit of a surprise to me. Oh, not that its included, rather that it isnt ranked higher than #4. "Notorious P.I.G", now THAT is some brilliant wordsmithery.

  3. I know this was just an aside and all, but Neil Peart IS the greatest drummer of all time, so I'm not sure what point JB is making.

Great episode fellas! This was a great respite in a movie summer that I charitably describe as "Thanks, but I hate it."

  4. I vote that the review score for the site officially changes to entirely baseball metaphors.

    1. Inside the park HR this one, and you had to take out living fire hydrant Ivan Rodriguez at the plate.

  5. Great podcast, you three!

I take it you didn't see Snake Eyes? I personally thought it was a good-enough B-level actioner, but it's probably not up to your guys' standards.

Yes, the Spencer Tracy Jekyll & Hyde is totally worth seeing. Some of the attempts at scares might be unintentionally laughable by today's standards, but director Victor Fleming had some interesting things he was trying to say with the character(s).

And are my ears playing tricks on me, or did JB say "Space Jan" at one point?

    1. Hi. I didn't get around to Snake Eyes but will before the end of the year. I pushed it down the list once I read it's going to be at the Redbox in October.

    2. Considering my love of Blade Runner and sci-fi in general, I gladly accept the nickname "Space Jan". In that spirit, SPACE JAN over and out! (Buckles on jetpack and swooshes away into the stars)

  6. Have to agree that the best movie so far in 2021,for me at least is "No Sudden Move", especially because I had zero knowledge about it and didn't know what to expect. I think "The Suicide Squad" is really not that good as a lot of critics want us to belive, it's very high rating on RT is very misleading, i would rather describe it as a weak "GOTG" clone that's far better than David Ayers 2016 "Suicide Squad" knowing how bad that movie was.

  7. Great discussion sirs! Random thoughts and a joke....

Wrath of Man: HUGE surprise for me...i love it. Its funny you guys referenced Den of Thieves as "redbox Heat" because very early in my viewing of Wrath of Man i thought to myself "hmmmm...whoever wrote this movie must have really liked the awesome opening heist of Heat and built a flick around it". It feels like neither a Ritchie film nor a mid-level-Statham actioner. Cool storytelling, great action, fun watch!

Walk Hard references: oh man am i happy to have found this crew. Walk Hard is very much on my list of "most folks dont know how brilliant this flick is." Just a week ago i was digging around on youtube revisiting the HILARIOUS Beetles scene (there's an extended version on youtube!)

Its obviously a tricky summer with few mainstream flicks getting released and what we got being mostly 'ok'. The only additional flick i'll comment on is The Suicide Squad...i wanted to love it but ended up quite liking it combined with wanting to rewatch it a bunch. the rewatch aspect makes me like it more. In the end i think its a solid double based on an error in fielding while bunting, choking up, something something no crying in baseball.

ok...now for my joke... written for JB......"Say JB, did you hear that they are remaking that movie where Nic Cage and John Travolta are competing against each other in a turkey cooking competition?" "no" "welll its not a remake but its BASED off of the original movie which is ironic given the title" "really? whats its title?" "ahem...Baste Off"

    ...................ill show myself out.

    Peace .n. Summer Flix!

  9. JB, I so badly wanted to burst out and yell “JUST LET HIM BE A SUPERHERO!” aloud in the movie theater during The Suicide Squad when that thing happened to the Polka Dot dude. Ughhhhh.

  10. Way to start the show with more liberal idiocy. Just jump on the "lolol horse dewormer" garbage. 1. Many drugs are used on both humans and animals, 2. Ivermectin only won a Nobel prize for human use... but yeah keep making your jokes.

    1. As you said, they were jokes. If it offended you that wasn't the intention.

    2. There are absolutely a number of people who are taking Ivermectin, without it being prescribed by a doctor, for a purpose that even Ivermectin producer Merck says it is not proven to be effective for, and are buying tubes of it from livestock supply stores that are intended for use on horses when they are unable to attain tablets intended for human use.

I don't think anybody takes issue with human Ivermectin use when directed by a doctor for any of its intended purposes.
