I think the reason that fans of Halloween have a negative reaction to Rob Zombie examining Michael Myers more deeply is that he is supposed to be the embodiment of pure evil. For a lot of people the fact that there isn’t a reason why he kills in the first movie makes him scarier. They believe the more information that is revealed about Michael Myers, the less scary he becomes. In contrast, Freddy always had a fairly in depth back story as far as slasher characters go, so therefore people don’t mind his character being explored further. His origin is much more integral to the basis of who he is. They are fundamentally different characters. Some would argue Michael Myers shouldn’t actually be a character at all. He is more like the earthquake in a disaster movie. An unstoppable force of nature.
Spontaneous Combustion next month, yes! I'm glad you are dedicating s whole episode to it. I need to rewatch it. I know it doesn't have the best reputation but I loved it.
