ReplyDeleteAbout Cannes... That crowd suck. They think they're better than everyone because they're at Cannes. They give standing ovations to anything and everything.
That being said, the version of the movie shown there is technically the same, but I could feel something was off, but not the worst thing ever made. Maybe I'd seen the theatrical cut too many times, but it's much better.
Good timing talking about Dwayne Johnson performance. His new movie was just shown at Berlin and he's clearly shopping for an Oscar.
About Jon Lovitz and comedians in the movie. Ask any of them, they love doing anything counter to what they're known for. The issue is with the viewer who can't stand seeing something different. You know how it is, they want things to be new, but the same.
I once read the comic book and watch the movie back-to-back. I was way younger and my brain was not mush yet. It was fun, a good experience. I don't think you need the comic to understand the movie though. There's enough exposition that explains whatever you need from the comic.
