Where the F is Doug?

by Doug Schultz
New column!

Los Angeles is my new home. For over a year now. And I have to accept that. No matter how much I whine to my wife. But LA does have some cool qualities. Like, did you know that lots of movies are shot here? It's true! Why, everywhere I look, I discover a house or a street or a tree that's been featured in a major motion picture.

As I continue to explore my new(ish) city, I'll post selfies of myself standing in front of some famous (and some not-so-famous) cinema "landmarks." Your challenge is to ID the location, and tell me what movie it's from.

We'll also be cross-posting these images on F This Movie's new Instagram feed, www.instagram.com/fthismovie. If you're already on that app, please follow us!

Let's start with an easy one. Please post your guesses in the comments below. If you can find a matching movie still or video that features this location, great! Share that as well. If you're stuck (no one will be stuck this week), I'll post clues throughout the day.

Good luck!

  2. Wow, Lone Pines Mall hasn't changed much since 1985.

  3. They should have a DeLorean parked there permanently just to mess with people.

  5. You literally went back to the past site of back to the future in the future and I looked at the pic of you from the past in the future and you're reading this in the past cause I'm on East coast time brotha!

  6. You're all absolutely right!

This is Puente Hills Mall located in City of Industry, CA, site of Twin/Lone Pine(s) mall in BACK TO THE FUTURE. Joseph Finn's link shows the exact location. The color of the barrier has changed from white to yellow (and the fake sign is obviously gone), but everything else looks the same, including the slope down to the parking lot and some of the mall features.

Thanks for playing everyone. Hopefully, future installments of "Where the F is Doug?" will be a little more difficult ;)
