It's Scary Movie Month 2016!

by Patrick Bromley
The wait is over!

Our favorite month of the year is here at last! 31 days of horror movie content, horror movie podcasts and, of course, the Scary Movie Challenge! The first SMC thread will be posted at midnight PT, so hold your horses until then. Those of you on the East Coast, on CST or (especially) overseas have plenty of time to watch a movie after midnight your time and write up your seven-word reviews once the thread goes live.

I also think this might be the first year that Day One of #ScaryMovieMonth is on a Saturday, so I expect we'll have a LOT of seven word reviews our first day. I know I plan to watch as many scary movies as possible.

Let's make it the best #ScaryMovieMonth ever! Do for it! Boo for it!

    3. I know this will sound crazy, but I have yet to watch the original Texas Chainsaw or the sequels, I've only seen the remake and sequels. So, right there is a series I will be diving into for the first time this month!

      Texas chainsaw mannicure!
And I'm not joking, it almost made it to the latest release but legally they could not do it

    1. A mediocre new film with a great last 10 mins "The Windmill" and an absolute newfound classic that you'll have to wait and see about :)

    2. I 've always have been terrified of Windmills. Thankfully we haven't cracked perpetual motion yet.

  4. I'm watching The Manitou from 1978. Trying to see as many as I can from the year I was born and mixing in some others. I feel like I've been in a daze for 11 months and now everything feels right again...

    1. I like it as well, am looking forward to see where it goes.

    2. "The Manitou" is awesome. Jamie Lee Curtis' dad + camp + "Exorcist" and "Star Wars"-influenced filmmaking = horror camp of the highest order.

  5. I'm starting with Duel. Just got it on Blu Ray last week but made myself wait until tonight.

    1. Duel counts? I guess it is a 'scary' movie. See, this is where i always run into trouble. Do thrillers count? Where do we draw the line? Just curious, plus I don't want to be posting reviews that shouldn't be posted.

    2. I think it counts. The truck is a monster, and the situation is terrifying.

  6. Just finished watching From Beyond, looooved it. Now the question is do I go for the eye or Barbara Crampton in leather in my 7 word review?

Its already SMM time here in the UK so my first was Mirrors! I watched it so Patrick doesn't have to, It's kinda ok, got a few good moments and effects by Nicotera and Berger, not as bad as expected

    Ps
You all know my one recommendation for you all, XTRO
    Have you seen it yet?

To kinda twist a quote from Lucy Lu in Kill Bill.

"If anyone else has a better recommendation than Xtro to bring up, Now is time F#cking time"

    I love you all!

Now go watch Xtro and just like Chucky
