  1. Great conversation! I remember really liking Jackie Brown when it came out and most of my friends thinking it was just okay. I agree that I think it's because of the timing. I was aware of Elmore Leonard's name because of Mr. Majestyk but didn't fully realize who he was until the excellent Get Shorty, which I loved. Because of this, I was super excited to see that QT was adapting a Leonard novel so that might have also added to why I really liked the film. Of course, seeing Pam Greer cast made me anticipate it even more.

I'm glad you mentioned Out of Sight, another Leornard adaptation, because in three years we got three excellent film adaptations of his novels. Out of Sight is another movie that I thought would have been appreciated more had it come out at a later time.

    1. Not forgetting that Michael Keaton reprise his role as Ray Nicolette in Out Of Sight.

Which is a movie that’s way better than expected

(I’m halfway through the podcast, maybe you mention all this later)

  2. I always said Pulp Fiction is probably still the best QT movie, but Jackie Brown will always be my favorite QT movie (and both are on the shortlist of my favourite movies ever).

  3. Great episode. Double dose of Patrick and Adam this week (How is This Movie). Hooray for double doses of sarcasm and Riske-isms!

  4. Not gonna lie, I was hoping for a Justice League episode. That was dumb because this is 1000 better than that would have ever been. Thanks for an awesome episode!

Also Adam, I had the same thought that Justice League feels like a 90s Batman movie. And honestly, it's not an aspect that I dislike.

    1. It's sooooooo late 90s Warner Bros.

    2. It's like a superhero movie made before Hollywood got slick about making superhero movies. It's kind of charming to me in that way.

Also... it feels kind of cheap. Which is an aspect I cannot fathom.

  5. Sorry about this one: at some point in the show the host said that melonies age is never brought up except in the novel. "Actually" lol, ordell at some point says to deniro, in reference to melonies age, "she aint as pretty as she used to be. And she bitches aa whole lot more than she used to." Not an exact quote but something along those lines.

  6. Thanks for this podcast, which was just the push I needed to finally get around to watching this. I watched a lot of terrible movies when I could have been watching this instead.

    2. I'll give the most egregious examples. With Jackie Brown sitting unwatched in my Netflix queue, I watched:

      The Love Guru,
      The Dark Tower,
      The Cold Light of Day,
      Angry Birds

Those are all from this year. I am pretty sure Jackie Brown has been on Netflix longer than that, but I'm not digging any deeper.

  7. After the news broke that John fucking lasseter(Mr. Pixar/Disney himself)turns out to be a creepy perv sexual predator, I listen to Adam and Patrick's discussion of how watching baby driver is now uncomfortable trying to reconcile supporting the work of disgusting people.

This man has directed, wrote, or produced every Pixar movie! So let's chew on that for a moment.
