I have an annual Halloween gathering, usually mid month, and like to have something on the TV during. Last year, some friends with kids were over, so I put on Nosferatu (no gore, cursing, sex, etc)...it made their 6 year old cry. Murnau...still got it.
As rip-offs go, it is extremely faithful. Or Tubular Bells was played more in this.
BLACK SUNDAY (1960, dir. Mario Bava)
The birth of a star, Barbara Steele. Or My loves and dislikes of Italian horror.
*A personal note: There are many firsts associated with Black Sunday. Most importantly, it was my introduction to Mario Bava. It was also my first Netflix rental nine years ago and the first step in a long exploration of Italian horror. Revisiting it simultaneously took me back in time and reminded me of how much I have changed. I liked Black Sunday more this viewing, but it is far from being my favorite Bava film.
