  1. I'd recommend"One False Move" from 1992 to anyone at all. Crime movie with Bill Paxton and a scary Michael Beach directed by Carl Franklin. I think it's aces.

    1. Yes! It’s a great little bro-noir.

    2. Goddamn auto-correct: neo-noir. Though I really think bro-noir should be a genre.

    3. I consider this more a bro-western than a space opera.

You'll hear this exactly once before you die.

    4. I hereby nominate Penelope Spheeris' THE BOYS NEXT DOOR as an example of bro-noir.

  2. I also listened to that podcast - I was HORRIFIED. That host seems nice, but yikes.

    1. I really want to know what this podcast is now, just to hear this take. Although, I feel like I would immediately regret it

    2. (It rhymes with Schmashfilmcast) I’d honestly really recommend it - the three hosts have a great rapport, and they usually have fun conversations. The two other hosts were also appalled by the third host’s bizarre problem with the ending, and tried valiantly to change his mind.

  3. A 90's movie podcast! Exactly what I was looking for. Just to add to my already overburdened list of stuff I really need to see.

I wanted to comment on the last Casino episode, that every time Adam is on, I'm left with a dozen "to see" movies from the 90's. It's a love and hate thing. Mostly love though :)

  4. Right there with you Patrick, Zero Effect is awesome and not the movie you think it is at all when you start it. It's a damn shame that Kim Dickens didn't have the bigger career this movie should have jump-started.

  5. Thuis might sound odd, but outside of film fans people donttalk about Boogie Nights enough. In PTA conversations I feel Magnolia gets most of the attention and Boogie Nights is mentioned almost as an after thought.

  6. Also a brandon lee double feature of Showdown in Litle Tokyo AND Rapid Fire!

  7. I’m a little relieved that CHARLIE’S ANGELS bombed, but I made that prediction when it was tracking at about $17M opening weekend. $8.3M is...yikes. I think I feel worse.

  8. Did I miss your guys takes on Joker? I read Rob's review but I don't remember hearing Patrick, Adam or JB's thoughts on it. It's one of biggest movies of the year just wondering what you guys thought about it.

    1. The movie is well made in a lot of ways but I definitely wanted it to be over because it made me feel terrible. I get that's the point but regardless I found it to be a slog.

  9. You guys jumping from 'Grace Of My Heart' to 'If Looks Could Kill' to some Albert Brooks banter and then finishing with 'Zero Effect' was blowing my mind and really cheering me up today. Thanks!

  10. If I'm listening to a different podcast I someone says era it makes me angry it's not met with an "era" immediately following.

  11. I too hear era in my head. Also "been awhile". But my friends and I have done that since right after the song came out. I was so happy to find other people just as insane as us in the world.

Fun Fact I saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, Defending your Life and If looks could kill the same day. So I'm sure TMNT 2 will be on your next overlooked films list. I mean Vanilla at least deserves that much.

If looks could Kill is fun. lots of fun. Also Adam should know Gabrielle Anwar is in the film. If he hasn't seen it that may help. And Robin Colcord(who is Roger Rees?)and Linda Hunt both shine.

Mother is great and Reynolds is amazing in it but I prefer Defending Your Life. Its could be one of the most optimistic films ever made. And for a guy that was raised by baptist and Methodist it gave me a completely different view on how you should live your life and what an afterlife may be like. I like that the films message seems to be the real goal of life is to just live. Be brave, the more you try the more you'll be rewarded is a fantastic. It also helps that the movie is very very funny. My favorite scene being the past lives viewings.

  12. Ninja Turtles 2 is a personal childhood favorite of my mine. The third one left a lot to be desired, but then again everybody has said that at this point. Personally, I would love to see a Ninja turtles movie with practical effects, but I know that's wishful thinking on my part. Take care, Munkee.

  13. "The Twitter machine," "the Twitter machine," "the Twitter machine"... as hilarious as "the interwebs" and even more so the tenth time.
