  3. Her feet are dirty because Sharon Tate notoriously hated wearing shoes. So much so she would put rubber bands around her ankles to appear like she had sandals on in public. The more ya know.

    1. Interesting trivia tidbit. People tend to be way too critical of him having lot of "feet" stuff in his movies. It's entirely harmless. There's been a century of people explicitly putting boobs and ass in their movies. But the moment there's a lady putting her feet up in OUATIH, everyone is distraught (exaggerating). I'm not into it myself, but I do like boobs and ass, and I applaud Tarantino for adding his personal touch.

    3. Thomas Jane also hates shoes. He calls them "foot prisons"

  4. I’m so glad you guys decided to cover this. For me too, it’s one of the most rewatchable of Tarantino’s movies. I had the day off, so threw on the movie in the background while listening to the podcast. And apologies, but I paused your podcast and just ended up watching the whole movie instead.

There’s so much good stuff I want to mention. Mostly, the pseudo movies that Rick Dalton starred in, well, I want to watch them all.

OUATIH was the first Taratino movie I watched in the theatre, and probably my favourite time in the theatre ever. There were a group of noisy punks behind me, drinking and talking, so I moved seats and was very close to the screen. But I think it added to the experience. All the driving scenes (my favourite part) felt very visceral. Like Patrick said, his movies are better with every rewatch. But I knew I loved this one at the time.

The fucking punks stood up at the end of the movie, the credits barely started, and declared, “Well, at least the ending was good”. And then they left, and I enjoyed the credits without their obnoxious presence.

    1. "What a picture". Pacino is fantastic in this. But really, what a picture. I love love love this movie. Can't wait to hear the rest of the podcast.

    2. I saw OUATIH in a theater all by myself. It believe it was on a weekday afternoon a few weeks after the film came out, and it was at a small local theater. Having no one around me, it really felt like a personal screening. Hard to believe that was three years ago already.

  5. Heck yes!! Great, great stuff. Musso and Frank's is legitttt next time y'all find yourself there and worth the wait/price. When they ask where you wanna sit, left room or right room, choose right. Also Rick's house is really easy to get to also.

  6. GREAT EP!

for starters...y'alls riffing in the kid voice with rock references had me rolling.

for seconders...great discussion around an excellent flick!! If you dig the Cliff Booth character, i suggest reading the autobiography "Stuntman! My Car Crashing, Plane Jumping, Bone Breaking, Death Defying Hollywood Life" by Hal Needham. Hals life really appears to the be the primary driver for the primary storyline and Cliff/Rick relationship as he was a stunt man who was best buds with Burt Reynolds (and other actors).

  7. Just a sidenote: If you search for the Conan the Barbarian soundtrack, you'll probably stumble over a version transcribed for organ - and the main theme is so beautiful "reduced" to this instrument. Please, do yourself a favor and listen to that version, I would love to listen to it in a church or similar setting.
