As one who's movie love was nurtured immeasurably by Siskel and Ebert in the 70s and 80s its always fun to revisit and see what did or didnt connect with them. Also, digging deeper, it begs a tougher question which i think Patrick hit on: The challenge of being an official reviewer when a specific subset of it ISNT something you gravitate towards. In this case is well documented that Gene wasnt much a fan of modern horror. Therefore his own personal interest (and therefore bias) might not make him the best critic for that specific genre. Its not a bad thing or a dig just another variable in approach. I think about this all the time for Movie and Music critics.
