Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (Dec. 20)

Hey! Merry Christmas, F-Heads! Happy New Year to you! In jail!

How to Train Your Dragon 2
Release date: June 13, 2014

Will this sequel to the well-received original continue to out-Pixar Pixar? From the looks of this trailer, no. Unless we're talking Planes. In which case, yes. Because flying dragons > flying commercialism (fun fact: "Dusty Crophopper" is my porn name [Patrick's is "Toothless"]). Ever since seeing This is the End, I can't disassociate Jay Baruchel with his real-life stoner persona. Which I guess is appropriate, because watching Vikings soar through the sky on colorful dragons seems like something someone should watch while high.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Release date: July 11, 2014

I'm no expert on the original Planet of the Apes series. Nor on the 2001 shit remake. I enjoyed the 2011 film Rise of the Planet of the Apes quite a bit. Well, at least more than I expected to. This preview? Sure! Why not? I like the vibe, the sounds and the ominous shot of a pissed-off Caesar, so I'm in. Also, PEACE AND LOVE James Franco is a decent actor (in the right role) and a fine human being, but PEACE AND LOVE I really like the addition of Jason Clarke (aka, Det. Jarek Wysocki) to the cast.

22 Jump Street
Release date: June 13, 2014

YES.

Interstellar
Release date: Nov. 7, 2014

Remember when I said "YES" before? Refresher: It was for the trailer for 22 Jump Street. Well forget that. Or, at least, C&P that "YES" here, too. Because YES. And YES above! I mean, Christopher Nolan? YES. And now that Matthew McConaughey is the most respected American actor, I can also say YES PLEASE. Plus OUTER SPACE. That's a YES trifecta, people! A YESFECTA!

Knights of Badassdom
Release date: Jan. 21, 2014, via Tugg

This is just sad.

Mitt
Release date: Jan. 24, 2014

Politics aside, this looks fascinating. I really enjoy "Beltway" movies and documentaries, and this filmmaker, documentarian Greg Whiteley, had six years of unprecedented access to the Romney family. While I may not agree with the beliefs and opinions of Candidate Mitt, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious about the behind-the-scenes campaign. This starts streaming on Netflix later next month.

Grand Piano
Release date: March 7, 2014

HAHAHAHAHAHA! WTF is this? And all that effusive praise at the end from fanboy websites! Sure! YOU MUST PLAY FLAWLESSLY OR YOUR WIFE DIES! What the hell happened to John Cusack? Boy, this looks ... INTERESTING.

Fireplace For Your Home
Release date: RIGHT NOW!

  1. I'm definitely up for Dawn of the planet of the apes, I am not raising my hopes too high I just hope to be entertained and have a little substance to it, like the Rise of the Planet of the apes did. I am more excited about 22 Jump Street. As well as being excited by Interstellar, I can't help having some high expectations of the movie, which I am sure will be exceeded (cross fingers). Grand Piano looks hilarious! 'Probably the best Brian De Palma movie he never made' oh no, please no, make it stop. Thank you for that last trailer, it really cheered me up!

    1. I too am excited about "Interstellar". When I first heard about it, its cast (Matt McConaughey, Michael Caine, Matt Damon, and Anne Hathaway) and Nolan directing I knew this would be one to look out for.

Perhaps if the film is successful they can have a sequel titled "Interstellar Overdrive".

    2. That cast alone is enough, all those you mentioned plus Jessica Chastain, in the same film? That along with Nolan, how can you not have some expectations? Haha nice title ;) I love your avatar by the way.

  2. Interstellar, sure, but that Fireplace For Your Home trailer, that's some deep and engaging stuff. I'm sure it will be a hot property.

    1. Forget 3-D though, I don't need to imagine myself engulfed in flame. (

    3. I just hope it doesn't go down in flames at the box office.
