I love May I'm so excited to listen to this podcast. I'm having a hard time pulling it up though it keeps redirecting me for some reason.
ReplyDeleteNo matter what I post from here on out (I will continue to post) for the Scary Movie Challenge, I will consider it a success knowing that my Wizard of Gore review was seen and appreciated. I wasn't sure if it would land or not.
ReplyDeleteI really like May, too. I've only seen it once, I think, but I appreciated that viewing for the story and Angela Bettis's performance. 'll add it to my list for the remainder of the month for a rewatch. I think I would agree that it's one of the better horror movies of the 2000s.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go check out the masterpiece that is Satan's Little Helper.
What did you think of SLH?
DeleteI realized pretty quickly after seeing the sister in the movie that I had actually seen the movie before. She was memorable to me. The movie IS kind of fun, but I don't really see myself going back to it a lot. I'm glad I did give the movie another shot, though.
DeleteHey, Adam. Check out my 7 word review of Satan's Little Helper on October 2nd. We are not so different after all. I take back the hex I put on you for making me sit through The House of the Devil.
ReplyDeleteI made you sit through two good movies. Go hex yo'self, playa.
DeleteWord
DeleteThanks for almost remembering my 7 word review of The House of the Devil, guys. It's the thought that counts I guess. (re: Babysitting. Pregnancy. One thing leads to another)
ReplyDeleteIt's a very good review :-)
DeleteI know you guys have hundreds of these to read through, so even getting a half a mention is genuinely appreciated. Keep up the good work.
DeleteGreat podcast as always. I will certainly be revisiting May in November and I will return to comment. I am also going to put Christine on the 80s October list though. See how it works. Its been a while
ReplyDeleteAbout Squirm - Scream (Shout?) Factory's release of that movie could have been a necessary evil.
ReplyDeleteSquirm is a movie that was used by Mystery Science Theater 3000. Shout Factory releases that series on disc. There have been several cases of the company having to release a straight disc of a movie to get the rights for the film for those MST3K releases. Squirm is in the MST3K set coming out in November.
If you want to see the episode of MST3K it's on YouTube. Ironically, the show doesn't include the part of the scene where Roger has the worms coming out of his face. Don't know if that was their decision or the Sci-Fi Channel wanted it cut.
Please please please make a show about "Locke"

I just saw the trailer for Dead Snow 2.
ReplyDeleteCongrats. That's F-ing brilliant
I just revisited Christine as promised. My thoughts are there is a really good 85 min movie in there but it was stretched out to 105mins instead. I liked a lot of the movie but it dragged a bit for me this viewing. A nice tight edit 20 mins shorter would of worked better for me.
ReplyDeleteShout outs are always cool, but when I heard my Annabelle review read out loud followed by Bromley's, "awww, what's up with that" I couldn't help but feel bad :) Just busting some chops. For some reason, tone is difficult to imply in seven words...
ReplyDeleteAdam, you always make me laugh my ass off. I read your review the morning after going to see Annabelle. I was just such a big fan of The Conjuring, I guess I couldn't help but be disappointed. I do agree with you (if I remember your review correctly now) that it was not as bad as it could have easily been.
Great podcast dudes.
I watched May a couple of days ago for the first time and just finished up the podcast. I love it too! So true about how a guy could be attracted to her - I was talking to my wife about it and it was like, yeah, she's cute enough that her awkwardness could be endearing - I'd probably go for it - but I also liked that Sisto bailed when it was definitely time to bail.
ReplyDeleteAppreciated this more and more after the fact listening to the podcast - great job guys - and I'm grateful you spurred me to finally watch this - a new favourite for sure (though I think I'm with Adam on liking The Woman just a little more).
One of my favorite horror movies of the 2000s. Everything seemed to come together for McKee and Bettis with this one. Prefer this over 'The Woman' but that certainly isn't a criticism of that movie either. Just something about the atmosphere in May that does it for me.
