Hoping the lack of ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD discussion means there's maybe a podcast devoted to it pending....perhaps....? Looking forward to hearing everyone's take on it. Mine? It knocked me on my ass.
Rob and Adam already did a piece on it. And it was discussed in the opening of a couple of episodeshttp://www.fthismovie.net/2019/08/reserved-seating-once-upon-time-in.html?m=1
Found both. Thanks. Not sure how I missed these the 1st time around....
I love Return To Oz. The first time i saw it, last year, i had no idea what i was getting into. It's so fun, and weird, and a little bit dark.
So Return to Oz does not sound good, but I still feel like I need to see this madness for myself haha. Also, it’s funny you guys brought up American Pie, because I’m reading Brian Rafferty’s book on 1999 movies called “Best movie year ever” (which is excellent by the way) and there’s a little section about American pie. In regards to the famous pie scene, apparently there were back and forth notes between the studio and MPAA about how many thrusts could be shown haha. So eventually, they were allowed 2 thrusts. I feel like those back and forth notes and negotiations would have been pretty interesting to read haha.
Also, Return To Oz is more of an adaptation of the books than a sequel to the movie we know. That's why people had issues with it when it came out
Schmactuallyyyy Berenice Bejo was in fact nominated for an Oscar for The Artist (supporting) :)
Return to Oz was one of the only VHS tales we had for a long, long time when I was a child. I've probably seen it two or three times as many times as the original Wizard of Oz.I love Return to Oz. Warts and all.
This doesn't qualify as Kindertrauma, but more Kinder-Oddity: Did anyone else watch Disney's "The Gnome-Mobile" as a kid? For some reason this was one of the very few movies my parents would allow us to watch so we rented it from the gas station probably 20 times.
Remember when you could rent movies from the gas station?

Robyn AGAIN with the Unico mention! YESSS. I watched Unico in the Island of Magic on repeat when I was a kid (I actually had to Google the actual movie title... Turns out there were THREE Unico movies... This one I think my parents taped off God knows what forsaken tv channel) - This was the movie with Kuruku flying around and turning parents into weird wooden puppets... To build I guess a parent puppet castle? I had friend with The Fantastic Adventures of Unico, which involved a cat turning inot and from a little girl and maybe the Devil?tldr; I love finding others that were subjected to the very specific "weird" batch of movies (Return to Oz, Unico, Dark Crystal, Time Bandits, etc...) - It's interesting to see the sensibilities of your parents reflected in the other weirdos that you connect with as adults that watched the same content.
Could the Before Sunrise Winona and Keaunu trilogy culminate in a Mr and Mrs Smith remake?
