Looking at the Wikipedia page for Verotika, I noticed that in the "Release and Reception" section, they quoted a certain Patrick Bromley. Hey, I know that guy!
So, that was a entertaining commentary. Thanks guys.
Regarding the movie...Every. Scene. Keeps. Going. And. Going. And. Going. Haha. And nearly every woman shows their breasts, EXCEPT for the stripers.
I think I kind of liked the third/last segment the best. The way that the scenes just kept going, and the hypnotizing/droney music, kind of had a weird ambience to it.
I want to see Verotika but I've been wrestling over whether I should buy or just rent it (we don't get Shudder here). Now I consider the existence of this commentary an endorsement from the people I trust the most and ordered the Blu-ray from Amazon straight away.
I started with your commentary on and then I simply wanted to watch the film purely. The first act is easily the best structure wise. The striptease scenes are going on forever, but the cop is great in the second one. And in the third one it seemed that they were filming the same shots on a loop over and over and over again - and then just took every single take of it - because this movie has to be 90 minutes and not slim 60, right? Now I will watch it TWICE and finish with your commentary... and I have paid for this!
BUT: These are the kind of "bad" movies, that still are fun with friends. Unintentional, sure, but with a lot of passion for the art. I hope that Danzig will realize that he is probably not a great filmmaker, but has created somewhat of a potential classic nonetheless and can laugh with us someday.

I want to hear this. I am not watching Verotika this soon again though. Happy scary movie month!
ReplyDeleteBeen listening. Cuz if Riske can do countdown. I can do this.
DeleteQuick answer though? 6 arms 2 legs. The spider is accurate. Danzig is just misunderstood.
F this movie needs "Im not going for Esoteric" T shirts
DeleteI forgot the legs!! I will forever be ashamed.

ReplyDeleteI would 100% listen to an entire podcast of JBones listing porno titles.
ReplyDeleteWe are working on that for you— I’m proposing that November should be designated Horny Movie Month.
DeleteHow about a Cafe Flesh commentary!
DeleteIt could be called "HO-vember"
DeleteOne handed reviews?
