  1. I saw the 3-D glasses in your Twitter photo and I KNEW IT! I mean, it was either Friday the 13th Part 3 or Avatar -- but that would have been TOO scary.

  2. It says it's not available on Netflix Instant... :(

    1. As of two days ago, it said it was available until January 2013. Unbelievable.

    2. Argh! This treat turned into a trick...

    3. I'm not too surprised, though. Netflix has a tendency to snatch back its movies like noody's business.

    4. It's INCREDIBLY frustrating, since that was a big part of why we picked the movie. I tried to find it on YouTube (not that I support such things); it's available to rent for $2.99. I'm guessing Amazon Instant Video has an option, too. Sorry about that, everyone.

    5. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why NETFLIX INSTANT SUCKS. 8 bucks a month for whatever Netflix has the rights to (which is a small percentage of what the DVD side offers) which they can dump or pull down whenever they damn feel like? No thanks, I'll stick with my streaming-movies-are-a-cool-side-benefit Amazon Prime subscription; Netflix Instant can go jump on a bat of battery acid and die.

Off to try and get a cheap DVD/BD copy of "Friday the 13th Pt. III" for less than 8 bucks.

    6. Sorry JM, no sympathy here.
In Oz our live streaming service costs $20-$25 a month, so an $8 one sounds like heaven, regardless of their practices.

    7. 1) Great commentary as usual.

      2) Everyone on here...I love you more than my luggage but...

Netflix Instant isn't streaming this. Wow.

Call a used CD/DVD store - they probably have copies they'd love to get rid of. Try Goodwill/Salvation Army. Borrow it from the library. Ask your friends if they have a copy (and tell them about this commentary). Listen to it without the movie if you've seen it before - I did.

There are kids in this country going to bed hungry tonight. Suck it up.

  3. No apology required here - somehow I own this blu-ray - looking forward to watching again with the commentary.

So I'm listening to your Music Box Massacre podcast from 2010 and JB mentions something about how it messes with your mind just watching 3 or 4 movies in a row, which made me harken back to the F! This Film Festival, which made me wonder why aren't we doing one of those with horror movies this month? And assuming the world doesn't end per the Mayan Calendar, maybe next year? Seems like a great idea from a very handsome man if I do say so myself.

    1. I second that emotion! A twitter horror festival would be great stuff (possibly including The Stuff, because like Doug it's both delicious and deadly).

    2. I wouldnt mind a Twitter-fest where JB tweets his nuggets of truth-gold along with the Universal Monster Movies.

I for one need that type of education to really appreciate movies like that (ducks the thrown fruit thrown for not being cool enough).

    3. We've kind of stayed away from doing that in October because there's already SO MUCH going on. But if people are really wanting to do it, maybe we can figure something out in the future.

    4. "Nuggets of truth gold" God, I love that.

  4. We've all learned a valuable lesson here. When it comes to the classics, you're better off owning the From Crystal Lake to Manhattan box set.

  5. You guys, I obviously can't just watch Part 3 without watching the first two, and then once I've watched the first three, OF COURSE I have to watch the rest of the series. You see what you've done to me here?

  6. I'm a huge podcast junkie, but also broke and cheap. Fthismovie is probably the one podcast of all that I listen to, that I'll have absolutely no problem with spending a few dollars to be able to enjoy. So no worries here, I shall be renting it!

  7. I listened to this late last night (with earbuds/ipod for the commentary and wireless headphones over those for the actual movie sound - worked surprisingly well!) and it was both a hoot and a holler. I'm fortunate enough (I guess?) to have the 3-D blu-ray so I got the full experience - I watched it a few years back but had forgotten that the 3-D is actually kinda good - not up to today's standards obviously, but some stuff really worked.

    A couple favourite moments:

It didn't seem like anyone else heard him, but at about 22:34 Mike queries, "Is that a dog blowing a man?" about a little statue that may or may not be a dog blowing a guy - that really got me for some reason - makes me laugh just thinking about it.

Towards the end when Doug started voicing over Jason (with a Frankenstein/Terminator accent) with cheesy one-liners, the "He is my new pupil" comment about some guy whose eye he squeezed out, killed me as well. I like the idea of doing that with all of the Friday the 13th movies - Jason, lover of sleeping-bag-bludgeoning and puns!

Hilarious guys - I shall have to track down a copy of Sleepaway Camp and check that commentary out as well.

    1. Thanks, Sol. I think I missed Mike's joke, but I'm laughing just reading it so I'll have to go back and listen again.

Those things are so much fun to do that I wish we could do them all the time, but it would dilute the brand. I almost want to do one for every Ft13th just so I can hear more of Doug's Jason impression.

    2. I wouldn't call it a joke - he sounded genuinely disturbed! And the fact it went unnoticed made it even funnier!

    3. Oh, I can't let this go for some reason, it's the way he says, "A DOG blowing A MAN" that got me - like the idea of cross-species fellatio had never occurred to him before.

      Delete
  8. Oh, it's occured to me before, Sol. Has it ever.

  9. This commentary was one of the funniest things in recent memory. And the line "latter day taint" had me making embarrassing choking noises at work and making that noise that kids do when they're really, really crying hard. That high pitched tone that only dogs hear? that "uuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnn" sound? I made that. AT WORK.

    Well done.

    1. Thanks, Hollywood. That's two years in a row in which Doug has made the best joke of the commentary.

    2. Oh shit, I forgot that line - really funny - I thought we were going to lose JB!

    3. Yes, I laughed so hard at that magnificent pun that I choked to death and died, but I CAME BACK FROM THE DEAD just to participate in the F This Movie Scary Movie Challenge!

  10. As wonderful as this commentary is can't help wishing that - when Patrick asks if the bunny is going to be framed for the murders - no one said (with a Scottish accent), "That's no ordinary rabbit! Look at the bones!!!"

    :-)

  12. So, we're well into 2015. When does Mothocaust come out?
