25 Good Movies Released in 2012

In the next two weeks, we'll be recording our annual "Overrated, Underrated & Ugly" and "Best of the Year" podcasts. We'll be publishing lists of our favorite movies from 2012 from all of the F This Movie! contributors. With all the talk of 'best' this and 'worst' that, a lot of stuff will be flying under the radar. These movies won't make my "best of" list. They won't be on the "overrated" or the "underrated" lists. They're flawed, but they're good movies. 2012 had a lot of those. They should be recognized.

  1. I had every intention of seeing "Killing Them Softly" in theaters but work, life, holidays and other issues got in the way. Today, finally, I had a window of time during the day when I could go see it so I check Fandango (where I definitely saw it playing in at least a couple of local theaters two days ago) for info. Not a single theater in the tri-state area (including movie Mecca NYC, where you can still see "Margaret" pop semi-regularly in at least one theater) is playing "KTS" anymore. For a Weinstein Company movie starring Brad Pitt released less than a month ago I find this incredulous, but it also means the DVD/Blu-ray release will be considerable sped-up.

  2. No "Snow White and the Huntsman"? Could we expect it to be a surprise entry in your "Best of the Year" list, Patrick?(Btw, I liked it too!)

  3. Have you mentioned Detention at any point? I fell in love with this one. Also, Django is phenomenal!
