Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (April 19)

I usually don't feature second and third (and "international") trailerz for movies I've already showcased (because C'MON), but, given how Man of Steel looks to be the biggest event movie this summer, I'll make an exception (you're welcome). Here you go (bet you didn't know I had all these completely arbitrary, made-up rules for myself when it comes to collecting/distributing previews to the F This Movie! family, did you?). Also, awesome trailer! It actually makes me excited for yet another superhero movie, when I honestly thought I was completely burned out. Well done, Zackk Shneidurrrr!

25 Good Movies Released in 2012

In the next two weeks, we'll be recording our annual "Overrated, Underrated & Ugly" and "Best of the Year" podcasts. We'll be publishing lists of our favorite movies from 2012 from all of the F This Movie! contributors. With all the talk of 'best' this and 'worst' that, a lot of stuff will be flying under the radar. These movies won't make my "best of" list. They won't be on the "overrated" or the "underrated" lists. They're flawed, but they're good movies. 2012 had a lot of those. They should be recognized.

F This Movie! - American Reunion

Patrick and Doug saved the best slice for last. And then they spit it out, because it tasted awful.

Heavy Action: The Running Man / Surviving the Game

In honor of The Hunger Games taking over OUR LIVES this week, I thought it would be a good time to look back at some murder-for-sport movies not intended for Young Adults. Unless that young adult was ME, because that's totally when I loved all these movies.

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (November 18)

Both Brave (release date: June 22, 2012) and The Hunger Games (release date: March 23, 2012) have new, full-length trailers. And why not? I mean, they're basically the same movie (just like two other new trailers, after the jump)! A horribly named (Merida/Katniss) teenage girl-cum-warrior (wielding a bow and arrow) with daddy issues battles "Careers" and monstrous "muttations" who will kill her in order to "prove their worth" in a long-standing traditional competition of deadly skill sponsored by a shadowy government for the sole purpose of entertaining a restless populace. She wants her "freedom," but is she willing to ... PAY THE PRICE THAT FREEDOM COSTS? Dun-dun-dunnnnn!

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (September 9)

Eddie Murphy is considered by many (including Howard Stern) to be one of the funniest men [still!] on the planet. Apparently, this is solely based on his choices in the 1980s, including his stint on SNL, his million-dollar laff and his hit single, "Party All the Time." But really, has anyone tried to sit through Eddie Murphy Raw lately? I cannot imagine that it holds up, and New York Magazine's wonderful Vulture confirms my suspicions. Aside from his "successful" role as (the voice of) Donkey in the Shrek movies, he hasn't made one single successful or respectable movie in exactly 64 years. This fall, Murphy costars in Tower Heist (I featured the "totally awesome!" trailer for it a few weeks ago), which is directed by Brett "Where My Bitches At?" Ratner, who also, coincidentally, is producing the 84th annual Academy Awards ceremony on Feb. 26, 2012. Ergo, Mr. Murphy will be hosting next year's Oscars. While I aim to make PLENTY of Pluto Nash jokes on the day of the event (follow our Twitter account as we live-tweet the telecast!), I'm actually (dare-I-say) ... excited about this choice? Not that it EVER matters who actually hosts this fucking incestuous lovefest, and a goddamn Heinz Automato would be better than the desperate need of Anne Hathaway and the stoned/severed limb of James Franco. But still! A once-funny standup who's NOT Billy Crystal! That might be good! Or it might be awkward! Who knows?! Of course, Bruce Vilanch will have to clean/punch up his rant on homosexuals (you have to play to your audience, obvi), but the show could contain some genuinely funny moments. Then again, we may all be dead before it airs. #2012
