Wait'll they get a load of this.
This year's F This Movie Fest is taking place later than ever before! Previously held every February, we're pushing back the date of this year's only all-Twitter film festival to Saturday, March 3! And this year we're celebrating the movies of 1989! The summer of Batman!
If you're unfamiliar with F This Movie Fest, it's a day every year where we all watch movies together and talk about them over Twitter. Here's the deal:
1. Secure copies of all five movies! (DVD/Blu-ray, Amazon Instant Video, iTunes rentals, public libraries, etc.)
2. If you're not already doing so, follow F This Movie! on Twitter (@fthismovie). If you're not already on Twitter, you should sign up! You can quit the very next day if you want.
3. Don't quit. Keep following us on Twitter.
4. Beginning at Noon on Saturday March 3rd, we all start watching the first movie at the same time from the comfort of YOUR OWN HOME and talk about it on Twitter (just tag all of your comments with #fthismoviefest). It will be like a running commentary. A conversation. Just like WE'RE ALL IN THE SAME ROOM TOGETHER! By following the hashtag #fthismoviefest, you won't miss a single tweet!
5. This is not a snark fest. We are not making fun of these movies. We love these movies.
6. If you have to leave for a movie or can only participate in half the festival or whatever, that's cool! Just check in or out with us on Twitter so we know who's there and when. Hopefully, we can all do the full marathon, but we know that's not easy for everyone.
Here's the full lineup for the fest! And don't forget we'll be celebrating the films of 1989 the whole week leading up to March 3rd. ARE YOU EXCITED??

ReplyDeleteI only own Road House so I need to get crackin!
ReplyDeleteA great lineup! Never seen Road House and remember very little about UHF, those'll be interesting. And the other three are excellent picks.
ReplyDeleteGreat that there's a movie-related event that's actually worth staying up for that weekend.
I don't own UHF, 4 out of 5 ain't bad
ReplyDeleteI'll get onnit
I may not have seen it, I'm a bad man
Great line up, a fun set of films, Patrick proving why he is the Boss, he knows what hes doing
Time for more comments like BreXtro!
Do for it guys
I'm in the same boat probably about to upgrade my Burbs disc tho. Do for it!
DeleteBesides the year these movies have something else in common, they all DO have or SHOULD have shirtless tai chi and a throat being ripped out.
ReplyDeleteI can already taste the chili!
ReplyDeleteMy fave film community celebrates the year I fell in love hard with movies. I'm already getting emotional
ReplyDeleteThese are all great posters too.
ReplyDeleteStill my favorite Batman movie poster.
DeleteNice! UHF is the only one I need to get and let's face it, I needed to get that anyway!
ReplyDeleteI was really getting worried - I thought it was Feb 3 and the silence was deafening! Now I can relax and focus my psychic energy on helping my Eagles win the Super Bowl!
Can't wait!
#HeKnowsWhatHesDoing
ReplyDeleteMy birth year! Iconic.
ReplyDeleteI remember this year fondly. Road trips to "Spatula City" with Batdance in the cassette deck. Stallone delivering his lines with the same, weird inflection on every...f-ing...sentence. Seeing one of my favorite films with one of the last great works by the late funnyman, Tom Hanks (RIP) and good ol' Johnny Castle becomes a badass. Ah, those were the days.
ReplyDeleteThe music video for Batdance is so rad.
DeleteI have a memory of going to my public pool for a "Batman Party" and the lifeguards all danced to Batdance. I'm 50 percent certain I hallucinated the whole thing.
DeleteHaha!
DeleteAh yes! Been meaning to nock UHF off this list. Can’t wait!
ReplyDeleteI know Batman (1989) isn't a great movie (though I sure like it), I feel like it's going to play FANTASTIC. So excited about that one!
ReplyDeletewait, what? isn't a great movie? who says that? i only ever heard that it was the best thing around. most people still say this is the best batman ever
Deletehaha Alright, that's my personal opinion at work, my bad.
DeleteReally sad I'm gonna miss the excellence that is UHF, but hopefully I can make it home for the last couple. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteGreat line up. A truly GREAT line up.
ReplyDeleteWooooo! DVDs ordered! So excited!!!
ReplyDeleteTruly awesome lineup! I guess I'll finally be watching UHF, can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI am sad that I'll be out of town and missing my first Fest in 7 years! But this is a damn good lineup and I hope you all have a great time.
ReplyDeleteHopefully I can get this day off. I'm actually supposed to have the weekend prior off but I think I can make a pretty good case for shifting one of the days around.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great lineup of movies this year!
Nice lineup picks, lineup pickers! Never seen Tango & Cash or The Burbs. Excited to watch them sandwiched between three other really fun flicks. Last year was the first Fest I watched along with, and it was a blast. Really looking forward to FTMF18!
ReplyDeleteI'm already planning my snacks! Just a quick question: these are all Chicago based start times, right?
ReplyDeleteYes, those are Chicago times.
DeleteI am now conducting myself in a small excited jig! This is an awesome line up. Looking forward too seeing UHF for the first time! Getting up at 5am in totally worth it, and I am totally making pancakes this year!
ReplyDeleteWoot! Can't wait. The only movie I've seen is UHF (and maybe part of Batman at some point?).
ReplyDelete1989 was the shit! Enough for two days worth. Missing Black Rain, Cousins and War of the Roses
ReplyDeleteCAN'T WAIT! Five days!
