Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (June 29)
Only two days left of (30) Stars of Summer. If you haven't played along, YOU ARE DEAD TO ME. For this column, however, it's back to the old ways of WTwD -- new trailerz coupled with adolescent observations. If I'm a bit rusty, I apologize. It's just that, well, #30starsofsummer feels like it's lasted for 300 days, not just one month. And trying to keep up (which, admittedly, I've had a hard time doing) is WORK! Kudos to Steve K, JP, FritzFassbender, Mac McEntire, et al. You guys are the REAL heroes. Next year? (A Few) Stars of Summer, amIright? Anyway, here are a BUNCH of new previews, some of which were released a few weeks ago. Gotta make up for skipping a month, right?

Our Favorite Sequels
It's summer now, and that can mean only one thing: SEQUELS! They're not all just routine, cynical cash grabs, though. Here are some that aren't. Or that are, but we just don't care.

I'll Watch Anything: Mark Ahn Watches House (Hausu)
by Mark Ahn
The back of the Criterion Collection Blu-Ray of starts with this line: “How to describe Nobuhiko Obayashi’s indescribable 1977 movie House (Hausu)?” Well, I don’t know either.

(30) Stars of Summer - Day 24: Christina Ricci
Today's entry has the distinction of being a) the youngest star in (30) Stars of Summer and b) the only one to be chained to a radiator by Sam Jackson.

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (June 22)
Are you guys sad? Of course you are (you're HUMAN after all), because (30) Stars of Summer is almost over! But don't worry -- you still have plenty of time to play along! Because June ends on a Saturday, I'll be featuring trailers from the final nine actors in this single post. You're welcome? Next week, it's back to new previews, as well as my HILARIOUS* commentary (*amusing at best). So soak it up while the soaking's good! Ew! #30starsofsummer

Sh!#ting on the Classics: Gone With the Wind
I really wanted to watch this again at the start of the summer because, from what I understand, Gone With The Wind is the prequel to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
(30) Stars of Summer - Day 19: Dick Miller
Today's entry is a guy who has been in SO MANY MOVIES, many of which were directed by Roger Corman or Joe Dante. So he's awesome.

Review: Safety Not Guaranteed
by Patrick Bromley
With its quirky indie premise, its indie rock soundtrack and the fact that it stars one of today's indie movie darlings, it would be easy to dismiss Safety Not Guaranteed as warmed-over Sundance fodder by way of 1997 -- "hipster bullshit," as at least one internet commenter has stated. That would be missing the point.

(30) Stars of Summer - Day 16: Frances McDormand
Today's entry is so great that the fact she's married to Joel Coen isn't even the coolest thing about her.

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (June 15)
You guys, (30) Stars of Summer is halfway over (or halfway FULL, if you're an optimist [we are not]). Have you been playing along? The only possible answer, of course, is YES. So, thanks! This week looks like an interesting mix of actors, including supporting stars, Hollywood royalty and Dick Miller. DICK MILLER! If that doesn't get your heart racing, well, then, YOU sir are already DEAD. #30starsofsummer

(30) Stars of Summer - Day 12: Susan Sarandon
Did you know that Susan Sarandon is 65 years old? She can totally retire. And marry me (us). She's also the first (30 Stars of Summer entry to have made out with one of our other entries. WE LOVE HER.
Sh!#ting on the Classics: (30) Stars of Summer: JB's Nightmare Version II
I am glad that so many of you are having fun playing (30) Stars of Summer with us this month. At least I hope you are all having fun. You are all having fun, aren’t you?
Fun is what it is ALL about.
But last night I had a very bad dream. I dreamed about what NEXT year’s (30) Stars of Summer lineup might just look like.
I do have to warn you -- it is terrifying.
