Beauty and the Beast (Erich's Take)

Show of hands. Who’s excited for F This Movie Fest 2? Trick question, I can’t see your hands on the Internet. DOUBLE trick question. The answer is obviously “everybody.” Look, I’m not in the business of picking a favorite movie from 1991, partly because there are so many good ones to choose from, and partly because no one is offering to pay me. That’s how business works. TRIPLE trick question.

Riske Business: Movie Memories of 1991

I was 9 years old in 1991. 9-year old Adam had impeccable tastes and here were his top 10 movies. If you disagree, then you may be a stupid head who eats boogers.

F This Movie! - F Everything!

With just three days left until F This Movie Fest, Patrick and Doug talk about the movies of 1991, Star Wars, Oscars and the importance of the second reference.

Heath Holland On: Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country

Captain’s Log: Stardate 12.6.1991. The original five year mission of the USS Enterprise has long since ended. In the twenty five years since televisions first aired the adventures of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy, the franchise has reached worldwide fandom, spawning toys, trading cards, scores of novels, fan fiction, costumes, and a mostly-successful series of movies on the big screen. But twenty five years is a long time for one cast to keep the candle burning, and it has brought infighting, resentment, multiple hairpieces, and fewer and fewer places to boldly go where no man has gone before.

Unsung!: Dead Again

Dead Again is one of my favorite mystery thrillers. And guess what, folks? Why, it was released in that banner year for movies, 1991!

My Favorite Movie of 1991 (Alex's Take)

Or...So, What Really Happened That Day?: JFK and the Pursuit of Truth

For the longest time, I thought JFK was an attempt to shed light on the murder of the 35th president of the United States, an uncrackable mystery that probably grows less and less likely to be revealed as each decade passes.

Movies I Love: Point Break

by Patrick Bromley
Only 5 days until F This Movie Fest!

My Favorite Movie of 1991: DOGFIGHT

by Adam Riske
Sometimes a movie finds you at the time you NEED to see it.  I had that experience when I first saw Nancy Sovoca’s Dogfight, starring River Phoenix and Lili Taylor. This movie should be required viewing for every male before he turns 18.

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (Jan. 25)

Last weekend, I was in LA for a baby shower (THAT'S RIGHT -- I'M HAVIN' A BAY-BEE!), and I got a chance to meet this nice dude named Kevin Ford through my soon-to-be brother-in-law. Kevin is a videographer/filmmaker who worked on The Brothers Bloom, and is currently editing a documentary about Adrien Brody renovating an old, rundown castle in upstate New York (serious stuff, F-Heads). Anyway, Kevin showed me the trailer for a movie he directed titled Legs, featuring Angela Bettis (she of May and The Woman fame), and, well, because I'm always looking for ways to juice this introduction, I figured I'd share his preview here. So, enjoy! And if that doesn't float your boat, here's a new trailer for the IMAX 3D rerelease of Top Gun. YOU'RE WELCOME.

Heath Holland On: The Hobbit and Why It's Better Than You Think

Welcome to my study! Come in. Sit down in one of my fine leather chairs. Help yourself to some of my pipe tobacco. You didn’t bring your pipe? That’s alright. You can use one of mine.

Doug Asks Patrick Questions About Movies

Patrick knows a lot about movies. Doug has seen Red Tails dozens of times. In an effort to expand Doug's cinematic horizons, he'll be asking Patrick questions about movies in a column we're calling "Doug Asks Patrick Questions About Movies."

F This Movie! - The Fifth Element

Mark Ahn must rescue Patrick from the depths of blood sugar psychosis as they talk about The Fifth Element. Big bada boom.

Riske Business: A Pep Talk to the Frustrated Moviegoer

It’s fashionable to complain about the theatrical movie going experience. At times, I hate it too. I admit that and I go on average about twice a week.  But any movie lover has no choice but to keep going. I honestly believe that.

Unsung!: Soapdish

I love animated opening credit sequences. I also love the animated performances in this overlooked, over-the-top farce.

Weekend Weigh-in: Whose Film Career Would You Like to See Revived?

This week saw the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leading man in an action movie, plus the introduction of our own film physician (filmsician), Doc Hollywood. Resurrecting careers is on our minds.

Doc Hollywood: Will Smith

Are you a famous Hollywood star or director in need of a prescription for your ailing career? You're in luck! Just pay a visit to F This Movie!'s newest contributor, Board Certified physician Adam Riske. You can call him...DOC HOLLYWOOD.

10 Great Movie Performances by Wrestlers

A few weeks ago, we ran a piece on Movies Your Forgot Starred Wrestlers. While that was a fun trip down memory lane, it left off too many noteworthy performances from the stars of the squared circle. Problem solved!

Unsung!: The Spanish Prisoner

Not as well known as David Mamet’s House of Games, The Spanish Prisoner is a terrific, twisty, con-artist film. The Spanish Prisoner can also be seen as an extended metaphor for how Mamet views the entire enterprise of filmmaking.

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug: The Best Trailerz of 2012

You guys killed it this week. Great participation, great comments, great enthusiasm for everyone's top 10 lists (looking forward to reading all of yours tomorrow!). Today, I'm highlighting some of the best TRAILERZ (I know, kinda boring [because I'm lazy]) from last year. Now, these aren't the trailerz from the year's best movies, nor am I featuring awesome trailzers for yet-to-be-released films (e.g., Man of Steel). These are just the best looking, most exciting, funniest, fun, most kick-ass previews from 2012, in no particular order. Tell me what I'm missing in the comment section.

Mark Ahn's 10 Favorite Movies of 2012

This year, I decided to mostly focus on what I enjoyed about films on my list; I'm aware all of them have their flaws both obvious and subtle, which are absolutely worth talking about. So, what I mean is, see you in the comments.

Erich's Five Favorite Movies of 2012

If 2012 was such a great year for movies, why is my list half as long as everyone else's? Am I more selective? No. Lazier? Probably -- but that's not why.

F This Movie! - Our Favorite Movies of 2012

Patrick, Doug and JB learn about life, love and each other's picks for their favorite movies of 2012 in this very special super-sized episode.

My Favorite Movie Moments of 2012

2012 might not go down in history as a good year for great movies, but it was most definitely a GREAT year for GOOD movies. There was a lot to like this year, and so much of the good stuff this year went down so easy that I know I'll be revisiting a ton of these movies for years to come. Here are some of my favorite moments from movies I really liked, plus some great moments from movies I didn't. It was that kind of year -- even the movies I wasn't crazy about had their moments. Here they are.

Weekend Weigh-in: What Movie Should Get a Sequel or a Remake?

Texas Chainsaw 3-D is in theaters this weekend, but instead of seeing it (life is too short), let's use it for the purposes of this week's discussion.

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (Jan. 4)

Because I skipped last week (i.e., holidaze), and because I foolishly thought I wouldn't have to do this column anymore (i.e., apocalypze), I'm a little behind, trailerz-wize. Bear with me as we barrel through a bunch of big-budgeted breviews. #forcedalliteration

It Came from the '80s: They Live

by Patrick Bromley
I have come here to chew bubble gum and talk about They Live. And chewing bubble gum does not make for interesting reading.

Unsung!: Big Night

Big Night is one of the best films I have ever seen, a film that I hold so close to my heart that for years I could not bring myself to see it again for fear that my first screening’s spell would be broken. Is it because I am Italian? Is it because I love food? Is it because I am very different from my brother? Probably all three.
