Unsung!: Bubba Ho-Tep

by JB
As I posted recently to the F This Movie! Scary Movie Challenge, Bubba Ho-Tep is clearly the best Elvis Vs. Mummy movie ever made. As it turns out, there are many other reasons to seek this film out.

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (Oct. 26)

This is it! The last six days of #ScaryMovieMonth! And, as of this writing, we have well over 700 reviews in the Scary Movie Challenge III thread. That's crazy! And great! At the same time! Do you think we can break 1,000 comments? I don't, but let's try! Homestretch, people.

For this final installment of October trailerz, I'm joined by Patrick as we examine old VAMPIRE MOVIES! Thanks for taking one (a stake) for the team (in the heart), Patrick!

F This Movie! at The Massacre

This past weekend, several of us at F This Movie! attended The Massacre, the 24-hour horror movie festival at Chicago's Portage Theater. This is our story.

Listen to our podcast on The Massacre here.

Doug Asks Patrick Questions About Movies (Scary Movie Month Edition)

Patrick knows a lot about movies. Doug has seen Vampire in Brooklyn dozens of times. In an effort to expand Doug's cinematic horizons, he'll be asking Patrick questions about movies in a column we're calling "Doug Asks Patrick Questions About Movies."

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (Oct. 19)

Only 13 more days of #ScaryMovieMonth left! Bittersweet, no? For this second-to-last Friday of October, let's take a look at some ZOMBIE FILMS from the past! Probably one of my personal favorite subgenres of horror, and, yet, there are SO MANY BAD ONES. Even the master himself, Mr. Romero, has laid some mighty big turds. Stop it already, George!

Two quick notes: 1.) If you're planning on attending the MASSACRE at the Portage Theater in Chicago this weekend, stop by and say hi! According to JB, the first 20 fans will get an "F This Movie!" button. And, as we all know, buttons are the currency of the future! 2.) Don't forget to take part in the Scary Movie Challenge III! LET'S CRUSH THIS THING.

Unsung!: The Woman in Black

by JB
I was such a fan of this film when it was released earlier this year, and my estimation of it continues to grow.  I have noticed that several readers have already posted seven-word reviews of The Woman in Black for our F This Movie! Scary Movie Challenge. Joseph Finn wrote, “No one gets out alive. Or sane.” Mac McIntire wrote, “Better start polishing that ‘Best Cinematography’ Oscar.” Noting the film stars Daniel Radcliffe, Heath Holland posted this review: “This scared the Slytherin out of me.”  Perhaps this film has already started its slow, stately, and steady progress towards being fully sung?

This is exactly the type of horror film we horror fans need to embrace. And when I say, “embrace,” I mean “hug a ghost that is full of rotting maggots and weevils.”

F This Movie! - V/H/S

Patrick and JB try to determine if the new horror anthology V/H/S is horrifying as in "reprehensible" or horrifying as in "decent" and name some of their favorite horror anthologies of the past.

My First Horror Movie

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (Oct. 12)

It's quantity over quality this week as we look at trailers for old GHOST MOVIES! Ooooohhh-Ooooo! Oooh-oh-oOooOOoOoo! There sure are a lot of them, aren't there? What's your favorite? None of them? That's not a good answer. #ScaryMovieMonth

Unsung!: Dracula's Daughter

by JB
As a hidden gem of the now-classic 1930s Universal Monsters cycle, this film really is unsung -- not many people realize how great (some of) it is.  But Dracula’s Daughter is also completely sung for a different reason that is really nothing to sing about. So, the film is, in one sense, “some-sung”… or semi-sung. But on the other hand, it is over-sung, and still singing that same old song. Okay, now that I have cleared THAT up...

F This Movie! - Universal Monsters

Patrick and JB go back to the beginnings of horror movies and talk about the original monsters, now available on Blu-ray for the first time.

Watchin' Trailerz with Doug (Oct. 5)

At long last ... #ScaryMovieMonth! "Yay!" -you. And, much like last year, I'm going to focus on some trailerz from horror films past. This week: SLASHER FLICKS! Not the best, or even my personal favorites. Just a handful that I wanted to feature. Why? Because this is my damn column and I can do what I want!

Movies I Love: The Funhouse

by Patrick Bromley
I won't spend a lot of time arguing that Tobe Hooper's 1981 movie The Funhouse is unsung, because JB is the "unsung" guy. But The Funhouse is pretty un-fucking-sung. And I love it.

Netflix This Movie! Vol. 11

Unsung!: Paperhouse

by JB
I will begin Scary Movie Month this year with a little-known film that may not even be a “scary movie” but seems to last an entire month.
